Another side effect of over-cooling is reduced performance of the cabin heater, though in typical cases it still blows air at a considerably higher temperature than ambient.

I'm not a fan of this product either, but it's generally at its most effective with pinholes in radiator or heater cores. It does tend to make rather a mess of the cooling system. I would suggest that you buy a tin and keep it in the vehicle, together with plenty of water. Another area where a radiator may be leaking is at the bleed valve if this is not done up tightly. With a bleed key, this is a ten second job to fix that you can sort on your own.

Since getting coolant warning light a few days ago, I'm adding about a litre of fluid to the radiator each morning to get it up to Max' level. So I bought some 250ml of Radweld which says 'Treats up to 17 litre'.
