The main characters are all talented in various forms of visual art: graphic design, music engineering, computer animation, fashion design, makeup, digital media, video editing, photography, and set design. Viewers will be exposed to these forms of art and their associated skills. Ruby, along with the rest of her group, is seen working on the runway group project when they are interrupted by Ms. Wright who lets the girls know that Bella is being expelled. Being understandably upset, Ruby and the rest of girls immediately panic and are heartbroken. They are then abruptly introduced to Amaya, someone Ruby is shown to be unsure of. How do you think Amaya felt when we arrived at Rainbow High? Have you ever been in situation where you had to join a group that already existed? If so, did that make you feel? Ruby appears with her friends who are all excited for a special snow day at Rainbow High. Before they go out however they all have to work together to set up a special dance party at the school, with Ruby also working at The Rainbow Union too. When she finally meets with her friends, she learns they left Poppy on the ice alone, causing her to panic and lead everyone out to save Poppy.

After Skyler gives her story behind her getting over Colin at the party, she chimes in and continues supporting her friend, even telling she she had switched seats in class to be away from him. Ruby appears with Sunny and Jade, laughing hysterically over The Assistant's cringeworthy audition for Rainbow Vision. While most of the girls have grown a bit closer to Amaya, Ruby is still rather distant from her, seeing her as nothing but a replacement for her friend. In particular, she tells Bella that she deeply misses her, having Jade text her about these feelings. Amaya, still trying to win everyone's approval, shows Ruby and the rest of the girls the school's special Color Change Chamber. Ruby in particular is very impressed by this, and she starts to see Amaya as her own person and as a part of the group. Violet details how Ruby and Emi are working together for Radiant Week, even revealing how they do jigsaw puzzles together.Days later, Ruby and her friends decide on their first runway look, with Poppy helping break the tie. After this, they all celebrate and prepare for the upcoming party she's DJing, with Ruby reminding everyone to plan their outfits. The importance of friendship, individuality, teamwork, and creativity are highlighted throughout the story. But, breaking the rules, hazing, and the exclusion of peers is also in the plotline. With the story still going on, Violet reveals to her and Skyler that Sunny didn't steal anything and was instead just exchanging it. This makes Ruby and Skyler apologize, with Sunny accepting it and them all hanging out together shortly after. Ruby appears with Jade and the rest of their friends in multiple shots, being shown to be angry with Violet at the time. Ruby and Violet are revealed to be teaming up and getting Georgia a pair of heels from The Rainbow Union for the holidays.

Ruby appears with her friends and is super excited to learn Amaya has a crush on River. Ruby in particular urges Amaya to ask him out, working together with her friends near the end to get them together. Ruby and Sunny are shown happily getting autographs from The Royal Three, having to leave when they get their fittings. Appearing once again, Ruby is interviewed by Krystal alongside her friends. In the interview, Ruby talks all about her love and passion for mixed media and graphic design, gushing about how she loves making art out of and on everything. Being rather inspired by this, it gets revealed that Krystal chose Ruby to be the spokesperson for the article. While originally fearing any jealousy, everyone rejoices over Ruby's victory and accomplishment. Being accompanied by Skyler, they help clear Neon Shadow's equipment from the stage, with both of them feeling better that none of the twins are sabotaging performances anymore.

Still sitting with her friends, she discusses how she doesn't want Laurel and Holly to host Rainbow Vision and on stage for the whole competition, something her friends agree with. As Violet tells her story, Ruby is mentioned to have spotted Sunny supposedly stealing the cardigan, with her and Skyler running up from behind and stopping her from leaving, accusing her of stealing it. Karma discusses and compliments Ruby's bag, even hinting she might've graffitied the bleachers after the big football game. Ruby later participates in a scavenger hunt with her friends, and while trying to complete the activity in a certain amount of time, her friends learn that Ruby's top selling products are sneakers that she custom paints. Working together, Ruby and her friends were able to complete the scavenger hunt, and they all get a surprise. It looks like you’ve just got your first art assignment, the theme is ‘Everything is Art’.
