Description

The unit is small enough to keep in your boot and comes with its own case to keep the dirt out of your car. The 12v connector can be neatly wound away on a spindle, saving the normal tangle you get yourself into. The 3.5m lead isn’t perhaps as long as some on the market but can do the job of reaching the tyre furthest away from the in-car power supply. Ring has been industry-leading in portable tyre inflators for over 10 years, winning multiple awards from across Europe, including several from Auto Express. The new range builds on Ring’s credentials, adding extra features to make the new range of inflators stand out in terms of performance, usability and design.Compact for easy storage under bike seats, in panniers or in the glove compartment, the RTC2000 includes a 2 piece adaptor kit for other inflatables, as well as a storage case. You can then either press the foot button to inflate the tyre or the green ‘Tap to inflate’ button on your phone. It will then start inflating until you get to your selected pressure before stopping. Comes with handy storage case and extra accessories: 1x spare fuse; 4x spare valve caps and 1 x pair of gloves

I was gifted this automatic tyre inflator from RING Automotive– a company specializing in this type of product – in exchange for publishing an honest review. So here are my thoughts about it. Extra long 70cm air hose with easy access storage compartment specifically designed to reduce kinks The RTC1000 Rapid Digital Tyre Inflator makes tyre maintenance fast and easy. The RTC1000 inflates a 13" tyre in just 2 minutes. It comes with three adaptors, LED light storage case, spare valve caps and latex gloves. We timed how long it took to inflate a 15-inch tyre from 20-30psi, noting the pressures displayed before and after, plus the ambient and working noise levels. We also timed adding 5psi to a space-saver tyre, to bring it up to 60psi. The RTC2000 is ideal for motorbikes, scooters and bicycles; and can inflate a bike tyre from flat in under 2 mins or top up a car tyre (25-35psi) in under 3 minutes.

As it stands though I’m more likely to reach for my more convenient battery-powered pump when it comes to squeezing a few extra PSI into my tyres. Registered office: Media House, Peterborough Business Park, Lynch Wood, Peterborough PE2 6EA and H Bauer Publishing, Company number: LP003328; With extra-long 3.5m power cable + fused 12V DC power plug to help you reach all around the vehicle

Once connected, the LCD screen indicated the PSI on my Citroen C1’s front right tyre in a matter of seconds. Target adjustment was another painless process as only the middle dial needed to be turned for me to reach my desired PSI target. Before this one we owned the RAC630 which has been a great servant over the years, and I fully expect this one to live up to expectations too. Would I recommend it? Yes. When you have all your vehicles set up with the correct pressures, the app is terrific. It makes keeping on top of your tyre pressures super easy. It’s going to be my go-to tyre inflator from now on. The RING RTC1000 is not the first automatic tyre inflator I have ever used, but overall it is the best I have tried to date. It certainly beats the old foot-pump I used in bygone days, and is a lot more convenient (and probably more accurate) than the machines on garage forecourts. And once you’ve bought it, of course, it’s free to use! This is definitely a top-of-the-range item, but if you’re the sort of person who regularly uses an air compressor then the RTC1000 is well worth a look. Although, if you're looking for something cheaper, the RTC200 is another of Ring's inflators in the new range - but it sits at less of a premium price. The app saves all your tyre pressures along with other data that you can manually enter, such as date fitted, light or heavy load, winter or summer tyres. You can even add images of each vehicle and the tyres; the app is limited to five vehicles currently. The three-legged Draper was an unusual shape, designed to spread the load and keep it stable when working. The hose was a reasonable 50cm long and it wrapped around the device to keep it neat. However, the three-metre cable had nowhere to go, which could be a bind when storing the unit in the car, especially because there was no case. It comes with a range of accessories, including adaptors for bicycle tyres, balls and other inflatables, and even a set of plastic gloves for keeping your hands clean. There are also some spare valve dust caps and a spare fuse. These are all useful, thoughtful additions, though it would be nice if there was a compartment somewhere within the device in which to keep them.

Once again, it featured a sensible reel to store the three-metre cable. The hose length was a touch shorter at 50cm and it was a bit of a squash to get it into the side compartment. We liked the easy-read display and large on/off button, but it would have been better if there was a case or bag. You have swipe left on each vehicle; then a menu option appears which says ‘Edit’ or ‘Delete’. Hitting ‘Edit’ then going into ‘Tyre Setup’ allows you to edit all the info. It’s a Bluetooth enabled tyre inflator, which links to the RING Connect app, available for Android and iOS. Thus making it the Ring Smart Tyre Inflator. It would make more sense for the Ring Connect app not to give you any tyre pressures at all and for you to fill them in manually. At least then you know they’d be correct. The cable management system is another big plus point. The airline wraps neatly around the top while the 3.5-metre power cable neatly slips around the base of the unit. It allows the device can be neatly stored away in the storage bag. This is something that is nigh-on impossible for lesser tyre inflators once the airline has been unfurled. I’ve used it to top up car and motorbike pressures and once to seat a stubborn tubeless tyre on a mountain bike. I like the screw-on fittings and long hose but generally think a digital gauge is easier to use than an analogue one. It’s a hefty bit of kit, but super speedy and surprisingly quiet. Award-winning digital tyre inflator that rapidly inflates a 13 tyre from 0 to 35PSI in two minutes.
