Roald Dahl is one of the most influential and iconic children’s authors of all time, with the British author writing legendary books including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the BFG, and The Witches. Look at the illustrations of the characters at the start of the book. Can you write a character profile about each one? What are their personalities like? Due to the fact that Fantastic Mr. Foxis based on the book by Roald Dahl, the filmmakers decided to include various different nods to the famous British author’s life, including several design inspirations from Dahl’s own life. Quentin Blake has been drawing ever since he can remember. He taught illustration for over twenty years at the Royal College of Art, of which he is an honorary professor. He has won many prizes, including the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration, the Eleanor Farjeon Award and the Kate Greenaway Medal, and in 1999 he was appointed the first Children’s Laureate. In the 2013 New Year’s Honours List he was knighted for services to illustration.
