Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. I used Sadolin Classic on a wooden patio door that had been neglected for several years. After thorough preparation ( sandpapering ) the wood I applied one coat of this Sadolin Classic and 48 hours later I applied a topcoat of Sadolin Extra. Patio door now looks very good.

Allow a minimum of 16-24 hours drying time before recoating or applying Sadolin Extra as a topcoat. Sadolin Extra is a durable woodstain particularly suitable for doors and windows, where it’s flexible nature and water repellancy provide long lasting protection. coat of Classic and 2 coats of Extra offer 3 to 4 years protection from the harmful effects of weathering. Allow to dry for 16-24 hours before applying another coat or 2 coats of an appropriate top coat such as Sadolin Yacht Varnish or Sadolin Extra Woodstain. Do not apply if there is a risk of rain, or when air / substrate temperatures are below 8 °C or above 25 °C, or if the relative humidity is above 80% during application or drying periods. Protect from frost and rain until dry. Failure to meet these requirements may adversely affect the drying, visual quality and durability of the finish.A lightening in colour, reduction in sheen and a loss of water-repellency is an indication that maintenance is required. For general maintenance, lightly abrade in the direction of the wood grain and clean using warm water and a mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
