The Spirit of Christmas (a.k.a South Park The Un-Aired Plot of 1995), is actually the second instalment of South Park Christmas shorts, with 1992 The Spirit of Christmas: Mr.Frost being the pioneer. And if you are looking for an original South Park short with what every fan loves most about, you shouldn't miss this one. And here is why:
In 1992, Trey Parker and Matt Stone made The Spirit of Christmas (aka Jesus vs. Frosty) while they were students at the University of Colorado. After seeing the Jesus vs. Frosty film in 1995, Fox executive Brian Graden paid Stone and Parker to make another animated short as a video Christmas card that he could send to friends.Despite modern notions, Revelation is not about the end times. The entirety of Revelation is about Jesus first and foremost and a revealing of his identity and kingdom. Yes, it also gives us clues of things to come, but it is first and foremost about Jesus. Christmas" was NOT always about Jesus. The Winter Solstice/Yule was the Pagan holiday celebrated with decorations, parties and presents. When the church wanted to convince Pagans to join, they chose December 25 as being the "birth of Jesus" (or, the birth of the Son) because it was in close proximity to December 21, which was the "re-birth of the Sun". Here you go, Pagans! You don't even have to change your celebrations! Just do it a couple of days later.
Santa’s appearance is prominent throughout Christmas time, but do we truly know where he came from? What should we tell our children when they question, “Who’s Santa?” What does Santa Clause have to do with Christianity? If Jesus Christ is truly your Savior and Lord, but you have been very lukewarm in your spiritual walk with Him, you need to ask Him for forgiveness and for renewal. He will forgive you, and fill your heart with the joy of the Holy Spirit. Then, you need to begin a daily walk of prayer and personal Bible Study. It’s important to consider the role secrets play in your household. And consider what makes a good reason to hide the truth. What I Was Taught about Santa as a Child There is also Anselm's Ontological argument, which has been modified. It too is a valid logical argument. The 2 most detailed narrative stories leading up to the birth of Jesus are found in Matthew and Luke, specifically Luke 1:26-2:40 and Matthew 1:18-2:23.The way I told my son was to tell him I was ready to answer any questions he had about Santa. So when he asked, I answered honestly, every time. He took it really well, seemed relieved even. We are called to be aliens and strangers in the world (1 Pet 2:11); to stand out, to shine like lights in the world (Matt 5:16). Surely giving up Santa and being different from those around us is a good way to shine and be different. But there is no specific call in the Bible to give up Santa. We don’t need to invent opportunities for our children to be different. They will have many, many legitimate opportunities over the years to stand out and be different (and have people dislike them for it). The Bible calls us to take up our cross and follow Jesus, but let’s make sure that when we take a stand and choose to be different, it is for Jesus and the gospel, not for the sake of being different. So Should I Play Santa this Christmas? Graden initially distributed the video to 80 friends in December 1995, one of the friends rumored to be George Clooney. Brian Boitano ended up getting ahold of the tape, and was apparently flattered by his depiction. After months of being passed around on bootleg video and the Internet, the film caught the attention of cable network Comedy Central. The network hired the pair to develop South Park, which premiered in the USA on August 13, 1997. Not only does the current Santa paradigm undermine our authenticity and integrity, but it undermines it in our kids. I want to know my kids, really know them.
