About this deal

The Hook Collar is used with a Ground Dog screw in peg, when using the high viz straps and safety spring. If the ground is hard, drill the Ground Dog screw in peg as far as possible, and then wind the wing collar down to the ground level to hold the peg securely The Aldi pegs are very good but you do need to remove the plastic T and open up the holes so the T spins freely. Ground Dog screw in pegs are sold individually, and each Ground Dog screw in peg comes with an orange Hook Collar. http://www. caravantalk. co. uk/community/topic/100873-recommendations-for-screw-pegs/?do=findComment&comment=1102759

The Wing Collar is used with a Ground Dog screw in peg, when using the Anchor Plate to secure the awning leg vertically. I just use a lump hammer and brute force. I still have a few "screw in" pegs that haven't already bent, and use them as plain pegs.from the drill, which is battery powered. I do have an air powered one which needs the compressor, but hat maybe is slightly over the top. Coach bolts & coach screws are made of steel and offer different finishes or coatings, including stainless steel, Bright Zinc Plated, and Passivated Hot Dipped Galvanised, to name a few No plastic bit at the top which can break off. Easy to put in any type of ground with cordless drill. At last you can securely anchor an awning leg vertically when detached from the side of a Caravan/Motorhome, with a Caravan Rollout Awning Anchor Kit. I've got some but as other have said they aren't all that easy to screw in - I usually bash them in halfway with a hammer and see if they'll screw in the rest of the way. If not they get bashed in all the way. They do come out quite seaily with the drill though.

Kampa Hex Screw-In Peg 20Pk from Camperite Leisure

Instead of hammering your tent pegs in the old way, just screw these into and out of the ground in seconds with your rechargeable drill.Supa-Peg’s NEW galvanized steel screw pegs are your ideal replacement for standard pegs where the ground is to hard. Measuring 220mm in length, they can penetrate deep into the ground for the ultimate ground holding capability. A handy 13mm hex head is located at the top so you can use a standard cordless drill for setup. Just loop the guy rope around plastic top to secure your tent. http://www. caravantalk. co. uk/community/topic/117475-bit-of-a-basic-question-but/?hl=%2Bscrew+%2Bpegs&do=findComment&comment=1370899 The Wing Collar is used with a Ground Dog screw in peg, when using the Anchor Plate Kit to secure the awning leg vertically. No, we are men -the more power tools the better! I've often wondered if I could convert my framing gun to fire awning pegs .... The constabulary might not like it much though I have seen some that are threaded but you still hammer them in and then give them half a turn to loosen them to remove. Even thought about the rebar type but these look to be over egging it a bit.

HAT ORGANIZER, TOWEL Hooks, Wood Wall Hook, Minimalist Walnut Polished Single Wall Mounted Hooks Vintage Coat Wall Hangers If the ground is hard, drill the Ground Dog screw in peg as far as possible, and then wind the Hook Collar down to the ground level to hold the peg securely I bought some screw in pegs from Aldi, last year. Tried them once - absolutely useless. Even starting them with a lump hammer (defeating the object of them, IMO) they wouldn't go in. Just spun around and I agree that there is a danger of catching fingers / awning ladders as the top spins round. I hate putting the awning up on a hardstanding - which is why we invariably go to places where we can have a nice grass pitch!Take your point about it being dangerous though so may just go with some of the above and maybe a few extra long ones just in case. Anything will work on grass/soft ground, but the screw in type were almost impossible to get in when on hard standing. Ryobi, as you say are OK especially for occasional use by old gimmers like me but not good for heavy regular use. DeWalt are very good but expensive and I think much loved by joiners and plumbers. when I worked in power generation we favoured Makita which we found fine for mechanical work.

Ryobi pulled a fast one with their one+ range. Once you buy into the system with a couple of tools and a battery it makes no sense to stray unless their tools are not up to the job in hand. As it is, their tools are of ample quality for all but the most dedicated DIYer.After a life in heavy engineering it used to be that, if it won't go with a big hammer get a bigger hammer. The Aldi pegs are very good but you do need to remove the plastic T and open up the holes so the T spins freely. I use 8mm long coach screws and penny washers now. I’ve found the best technique to driving pegs into hard standings if they won’t screw in is to strike them firmly but not too hard and ease them into the substrate rather than trying to get them in with one Thor-like blow.
