And, I love these guys and it is so easy. We all like the same stuff and have worked together for most of our lives. As Luke shares, “I have been working with both these guys since I was a kid. STEVE LUKATHER – Bridges - Get Ready to ROCK! Album review: STEVE LUKATHER – Bridges - Get Ready to ROCK!

Bridges is the ninth studio album by Steve Lukather, released by The Players Club ( Mascot Label Group). It was released on June 16, 2023. The album heavily features fellow Toto bandmates Joseph Williams and David Paich and noted alumni Leland Sklar, Simon Phillips and Shannon Forrest. Toto temporarily reforming in July 2010", Toto99.com, February 27, 2010 , retrieved October 22, 2010 Over the course of Luke’s career, both Stan Lynch and Randy Goodrum have frequently co-written with him. On Bridges , both of these prolific writers once again have collaborated. Lynch, of Heartbreakers fame co-wrote multiple songs with Lukather / Paich / Williams, and Goodrum with Luke alone on “All Forevers Must End.” As Luke offers, “These guys are the guys that come in and write the lyrics way better than me. I knew they would bring it as always and they did. They are also dear friends as well, and we love working together. I do have input to the lyrics. I give them ideas of what I wanna say and they articulate my feelings into the music, and then perhaps once I see their first drafts we talk about it, edit here and there, and the end result is what we have on this record.”At Grant High School, [5] Lukather met David Paich and the Porcaro brothers ( Jeff, Steve, and Mike), [6] all of whom eventually became members of Toto. Lukather, who had been a self-taught musician, began taking guitar lessons from Jimmy Wyble. With Wyble, Lukather expanded his knowledge of wider aspects of music, including orchestration. It was during this period in the early 1970s that Lukather became interested in the idea of becoming a session musician, a vocation that provided opportunities to play with a variety of famous musicians. [3] Woodard, Josef (August 2001), "Fission: All That Funkin' Jazz", JAZZIZ, vol.18, no.8, pp.26(2), ISSN 0741-5885 Lukather achieved notability in the 1970s and 1980s as one of the most sought-after session guitarists in Los Angeles, [24] playing with a wide range of artists from Aretha Franklin to Warren Zevon. [24] [25] He has performed on over 1,500 records spanning 36years. [17] Music journalist Jude Gold noted, "It's hard to name a guitarist who has had a more prolific and fulfilling career than Steve Lukather." [24] Lukather credits fellow Toto members David Paich and Jeff Porcaro for getting him exposure in the industry—although he lamented in an April 2011 interview that opportunities for session musicians have curtailed in recent years: "There is no 'session guy' thing any more—not like it was. It's not like the old days when I was doing 25 sessions a week. All the studios are gone. The budgets are gone. The record companies are all gone." [17] His own output as a session musician has slowed along with the rest of the industry—as of 2009, Lukather stated he was doing only a few sessions a year. [16] About "Bridge of Sighs", Lukather said that he chose that song because "Robin [Trower] doesn't get enough love" and he "wanted to capture that era when it was recorded in the early '70s". He has also affirmed that it's a great and fun song to play, that he loves the lyrics and the vibe of the song, and that "not a lot of people have done it" as far as he knows.
