Thanks Joe for referencing my article on SE. We have used the tape method on the Rainier Great Western for years now and it works flawlessly. You can buy 1/4"wide tape through Uline.com: http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-3049/Masking-Tapes/Uline-Industrial-Masking-Tape-1-4-x-60-yds I didn't know that about the inner rail height staying the same on the prototype, or that the inch elevation is almost equal to the tilt angle. Yet some more good stuff learned here on MRH! Thanks!

The friction which is developed between the wheel of the vehicle and the pavement acting transversely along the pavement surface towards the centre of the curve. A layer of Premium InfiniLux™ foam offers the perfect combination of durability and sumptuous comfort

I'm not a fan of tilting the risers/subroadbed only because it can beharder to control. For me anyway, much easier to focus on building dead-level subroadbed, then add any superelevation and transitions to that. Superelevation on the horizontal curve is one of the most important features in the construction of the roads. It is very essential to provide superelevation in roads for the safe movement of vehicles on the curved portion of the roads. Someone mentioned that superelevation needs to be achieved gradually. True and this change should coincide with a transition curve, a spiral between the straight and the curve or between two curves. The length shouldn't cause a gradient of the outer rail greater than 1:256 so a 3" superelevation requires a 64' transition. Super elevation is tilting the roadway to help offset centripetal forces developed as the vehicle goes around a curve. Along with friction they are what keeps a vehicle from going off the road. A super elevated section is proceeded by a transition section. Superelevation FormulaTo super elevate my curves I'm using 1/32" basswood strips. On the following pictureI have the basswood strip directly under the outside rail. (Excuse the Sharpe. That helped me keep my pictures from getting mixed up.) I also buy or cut strips from wider rolls, 1/4 inch tape. I start with a single layer on the outside radius for the entire length of the curve I want super elevated. I then place a second layer, moving in 2 1/2 inches from both ends, for that entire distance. Move in another 2 1/2 inches and place the third strip.. etc. etc. Designed to bring structure to every point around your mattress, UniCased® encompasses the entire edge, meaning that you benefit from a larger usable sleep surface and removing the “roll off” feeling whilst asleep on or near the mattress edge. It’s important to have a solid foundation when you build something special. That’s how Sealy like to think of their BasePlank technology. Unifying and trustworthy, BasePlank sits below the spring unit, providing structure from corner to corner, as well as offering breathability through multiple air channels.

The main aim of providing superelevation is to counteract the effect of centrifugal force acting on the moving vehicle. I've never built a layout with super-elevated curves, but after seeing some really cool pictures taken on layouts that have them, I'd like to give it a try. Featuring Sealy’s patented AlignSupport™ spring system where neither comfort nor support are compromised. The Sense and Respond spring system first senses your shape as your body relaxes into the mattress. The unique geometry of the spring then follows up with deep down, consistent support that you can count on year after restful year. Intelligent, responsive and adaptive - whoever you are and however you sleep, there’s only one AlignSupport™ spring. As Billso described, I also use masking tape to create super elevated curves. But I only use 8 layers. I have found standard masking tape at the big box stores averages between 3.5mil to 5mil. At 8 layers this is close to 1/32 inch as mentioned by many of the other posts. The outer half of the cross slope is brought to the level rotating about the crown line at the start of the transition curve. SuperF4 kills the foreground program when you press Ctrl+Alt+F4. This is different from when you press Alt+F4. When you press Alt+F4, the program can refuse to quit. Windows only asks the program to quit, and lets it decide for itself what to do. In the first method, the outer half of the cross slope is rotated about the crown at the rate such that the surface of road falls on the same plane and the elevation of the centre line is not varied. Also, read: What Is Camber in Road | Types of Camber | Advantages of Camber in Road Method of Providing Superelevation to the Roads By using this formula the angle of superelevation is also determined. Minimum and Maximum Superelevation in Roads

In the case of heavily loaded vehicles having denser material, it is not possible to move this vehicle on the road with a high rate of superelevation. Superelevation in roads is basically provided on the horizontally curved portion of the roads in which the outer edge of the road pavement is raised with respect to the inner edge, thus providing a transverse slope throughout the length of the horizontal curve of the road. There are different methods to get your super elevated heights. I used plastic shims under my ties. The attached link will take you to a method using layers of masking tape under the roadbed.

In the event that a curve is less than 90 degrees, say just 45 degrees, then you would only have 4 layers of tape. You don't want to force a full 1/32 inch of super elevation into a shorter distance. UniCased® brings structure to every point of the matress, extending the sleep area and preventing the "roll-off" feeling
