The copy I have is large bound, filled with artistic color and imagery that feeds the imagination. The text was obviously thought out and the writing has a smooth, excellent style. Eriti põnev oli raamatu algus ning kaks esimest lugu jäid ka kõige eredamalt meelde. Enamik raamatus kirjeldatud intsidentidest olid mulle võõrad. Varem olin kuulnud neist lugudest vaid kahte, mille kangelasteks olid Aron Ralston ja Hugh Glass. Veel tundus tuttavana venelane, kes end opereeris. Esimestele lugudele otsisin internetist materjali juurde, kuid hiljem enam ei viitsinud. Mulle meeldisid väga ka joonistused, mis andsid lugudele palju juurde, kuid ei näidanud koledaid detaile. Found this after watching the 2017 Daniel Radcliffe film “Jungle” about Yossi Ghinsberg, a young Israeli who got himself lost in the Bolivian jungle (and is one of the people discussed in this book). Heroes by David Long is the perfect KS2 non-fiction class reader for Years 4–6, recommended for children aged 9+. Like Jet, a dog who searched through ruins during the Blitz bombings to find survivors, or Sergeant Stubby, a dog who caught a spy. Or the pigeons who braved hurricanes, hawks and even snipers to help during WWII … I am committed to becoming the best I can be – a lifelong learner where those around me celebrate and encourage the start of my unique learning journey.

I found this book thoroughly fascinating--I love survival stories for the way they focus in on the concrete details of life (food, water, physical ability) and how the survivors use their ingenuity and incredible perseverance to make it--totally inspiring to me. Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments Each story is just the perfect length to read aloud at bedtime (although may give sensitive children somewhat vivid dreams), or for children to devour alone. Kerry Hyndman's stunning illustrations bring the book alive to a fantastic degree. Eluga pääsenud" on kogumik uskumatutest ellujäämislugudest.
