I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone, as I've said if you want to know anything about a serial killer then just Google it, you'll probably find more from the internet than you will in this book and you really don't want to spending time with this author, which is basically all you do while reading it. There were some discussions about the anatomy of a killers brain, but not a lot. I would have liked to have seen more in depth intellectual discussion not just opinion. Whenever we get into talking about (never 'to') a spree killer, the author mentions that he spoke to this killer or that killer, but we don't get a repeat of what was said. He just says 'see my other book, I won't repeat it here' or says 'plenty of books are written about this so I don't need to talk about it'. Oh and my favourite 'there's a YouTube video about this' (without saying what video or where to find it).

A noted writer and criminologist of many years' standing, Christopher Berry-Dee is also the author of the bestselling Talking to Serial Killers.... There is not one point at which you actually get to read ANY of his apparent MILLION interviews with murderers and serial killers. Lost count of how many times I read the sentence, “I’ve interviewed him twice before.” Where can I read that interview, if not in a book entitled TALKING WITH PSYCHOPATHS AND SAVAGES? There is no index in this book, so you can't even see what books or sources he's talking about. Not that I'd read anything he recommended, if I'm honest.I don't care about your opinion, Chris. I'm not reading a true crime story to hear your politics. It was clearly insane of me to expect actual interviews with serial killers from a book which says "interviews with serial killers" on the front. I'm laughing at the irony of this man condemning murderers as the "scum of the earth" (how factual) then salivating over killing people and them catching fire in electric chairs. This is not an insight into the psychology of killers. This is a selection of case studies - most details of which can be found on Wikipedia - linked together with the author's self-agrandising narrative. Berry-Dee uses language best suited to a gutter tabloid to paint demonic pictures of serial murderers, without giving any understanding or insight into why they committed such dreadful crimes. Indeed, I feel I have learnt more about how Berry-Dee manipulates people, than I have about the mindset of the killers. The incarcerated appear to have reacted quite rationally in telling him to get lost, once they have got wind of his deceptions! This book is not what I thought it would be at all I thought it would be interviews with psychopaths and savages but I was wrong.

Because this is such a short and uninteresting book my review is going to be just that, short.. hopefully it's still interesting to you though. TALKING WITH PSYCHOPATHS AND SAVAGES has a low average rating on Goodreads and now I know why, I don't usually like calling out the author if it's down to just a poor story but this true crime book came across as really tedious. Christopher Berry-Dee does not know how to write or how to not come across as an a**hole. The result is a chilling narrative that sets the forensic examination of killers and their crimes within the context of murder in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, an examination of the evil mind set against the insoluble problem of identifying psychopaths who kill. In Talking With Psychopaths and Savages, bestselling author and criminologist Christopher Berry-Dee takes readers deep inside the dark minds of some of the most pitiless and dangerous people alive. unreservedly accessible pdf archives on the Internet. We don't have any document on our server. In the eventChristopher Berry dee has not talked to any of the people featured in this book. The people he has spoken to are in his other books. Which he mentions a lot. Like loads Unfortunately the promised “deep journey into the minds of psychopaths” did not materialise. Instead a string of narcissistic comments, adverts for his own books and personal irrelevant comments about serial killers ensued eg. Berating the standard of a serial killer’s BMW. There are undertones of sexism, brash opinions that aren't objective nor well rounded, and at one point he says if you disagree with his point of view, that means you are okay with having your wife or children raped and murdered and their corpses left out to rot in the cold (no joke).

Disclaimer: I DNF because I was bored to tears. I struggled in vain to the halfway point before accepting that the time I had already invested in this book was time wasted. This is the first book by Christopher Berry-Dee that I read and I am so happy I found him. Being a person interested in true crime, criminology, and so on, not knowing about this author before makes me feel bad and clueless. Solid state physics Quantum theory Chemical bonds SCIENCE Physics Condensed Matter Física do estado sólido Mecânica quântica This is the first and last book I'll be reading by Berry-Dee. What a terrible book by a terrible author. This is cheap, empty, self-important writing, and the book hasn't been properly edited - poorly structured with unnecessary repetitions, spelling and grammar mistakes.
