About this deal

From the acclaimed author of The Hunger comes an eerie, psychological twist on one of the world’s most renowned tragedies, the sinking of the Titanic, and the ill-fated sail of its sister ship, the Britannic.Someone, or some thing, is haunting the ship. That is the only way to explain the series of misfortunes that have plagued the passengers of the Titanic from the moment they set sail. From mysterious disappearances to sudden deaths, the guests aboard the ship are suspended in an eerie, unsettling twilight zone of travel, with little sense of time during the four days of the boat’s illustrious maiden voyage. As the guests acquaint themselves and shrug off strange occurrences, several, including maid Annie Hebbley, guest Mark Fletcher, and millionaires Madeleine Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim, are convinced there’s something more sinister going on–that is, until disaster strikes.

Initially I thought this would be a horror book, maybe because of Jaws, but when I realized this was actually a sea mystery, I thought that I wouldn't like it that much. I was wrong, and The Deep surprised me in many ways. Like THE HUNGER, THE DEEP is historical reimagining laced with magic and mystery. Alma Katsu adds a sweeping love story and a ghostly tale of revenge to the sinkings of RMS Titanic and HMHS Britannic to tell a tale that is haunting, thrilling, and utterly original.” The film's score was composed by John Barry, who at the time was most famous for his work on the James Bond film series. [14] In the same manner of a Bond film, Barry collaborated with a high profiled singer for the film's theme song. American singer Donna Summer teamed up with Barry for the film's signature song, titled "Down Deep Inside (Theme From The Deep)". Summer was a singer under contract to the film production company, Casablanca Record & FilmWorks. The song was nominated for a Golden Globe Award [15] and a hit on the U.S. Dance Chart, as well as a top-five singles hit in the UK, and a top-forty hit in the Netherlands. One particular character from The Deep was a stand-out for me. They added a really interesting anti-hero arc to the narrative & I’m not against seeing a prequel about this complex character. Yetu was a sympathetic and her role as the historian led to some really interesting discussions around psychology and the burden/trauma of remembering versus the liberation and relief of knowing and feeling connected to your identity and heritage. I really liked her discussions with Ori centring on this theme.I flew through this! THE DEEP is an atmospheric crime fic/thriller on par with the works of Jane Harper and Chris Hammer. ⁣ During his tenure with The Seven, The Deep seemed mindful of the fact that he was regarded as the least valuable member. He complained to Starlight that Vought only wants him to make "pretty dives" and show off his biceps. He also became belligerent when Starlight, having learned that The Deep lied to her about his importance to the group to coerce her into sexual acts, angrily told him "everyone thinks you're a joke."

The Deep's rapport with marine animals even extends to sexual intimacy. For instance, bottlenose dolphin that Deep was attempting to return to the ocean was apparently requesting sexual favors. And while he was engaged in coitus with his wife, he was clearly focused on his pet octopus Timothy, suggesting that Timothy would perform masturbation on him with all his arms. This is further proven when he went to the Herogasm and is seen having coitus with an octopus, even though he was supposed to get information about Soldier Boy and again when he asked his wife to have a 3-way with an octopus. a b "Gary K. Wolfe and Ian Mond Review The Deep by Rivers Solomon, Daveed Diggs, William Hutson & Jonathan Snipes". Locus Online. 2020-02-11 . Retrieved 2020-11-06. In short, I would need to read this again before I can provide more thoughts. Something I would most definitely be willing to do.As far as content, I didn't retain much; just the feeling. It's too bad because it is such a different reading experience and I believe, from what I understand, the creation of this novella was quite unique as well. It causes people to forge She says, “Where loneliness ends.”Yetu is the only one out of her mermaid tribe that knows their history. Amphibious Physiology and Anatomy: The Deep possesses a hybrid set of human lungs and aquatic gills enabling him to not only breathe on land but also underwater for as long as he likes. He can also endure cold temperatures and see in the dark depths of the ocean.
