About this deal

Distinctly different in style from Dugoni’s typical fair, “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell,” is a captivating and poignant journey of strength and the power of finding your true self. Without a doubt, this is Dugoni’s best yet. Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered, buoyed by his mother’s devout faith, his father’s practical wisdom and his two other misfit friends.

Robert Dugoni’s books are sold in more than twenty-five countries and have been translated into more than thirty languages. I am a small business marketing consultant and I love sharing titles of great books I read on my blog, https://booknationbyjen.com.She was his fierce protector, for as long as she could be, but eventually Samuel would have to attend school at the “Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church”, where his mother can go only as far as the steps leading into the classrooms. I’m lowering mine just briefly enough to write out my thoughts on "The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell." While my sins were being too skinny, too pale, too meek and too much or too little of whatever my tormenters deemed acceptable at any given moment, Sam Hill had only one: he had ocular albinism.

Q: I listened to an interview in which you mentioned that you did a lot of research into police procedures and investigation techniques for your Tracy Crosswhite series. It made me curious to find out how you did your research for the Charles Jenkins series, with the world of espionage being so incredibly secretive? Three estranged sisters reconnect in their Louisiana hometown to face an unresolved past in a heartfelt novel about family, grief, secrets, and forgiveness. Story was told in past and present. Dugoni kept the chapters short and a very tight writing. Perhaps because he also write thrillers that he turned every chapter in a short suspense story keeping me on the edge. It was to put it down as I kept telling myself one more chapter and at the end of that chapter something would happen that I had to read the next chapter. Noun: A painter who uses light and shade rather than colour to create the illusion of volume. CategoriesAn emotional, rousing novel inspired by the incredible true story of two giraffes who made headlines and won the hearts of Depression-era America.

Q: I listened to The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell on audible, which you narrated yourself. I was wondering if that requires some kind of training and if you narrate all your audiobooks yourself? Sam endures bullying and outright discrimination due to his physical appearance. His childhood is tough, and he questions his faith. Sam’s mother is his best advocate and champion. The love between all members of this family was palpable and inextinguishable. I was looking for a good change-of-pace book from my usual thrillers and crime fiction. I wanted something easy to read, but with real depth and minimal gore. My partner suggested this one. Thanks, Jean!It may have originated sometime between the years 1850 and 1914. Heavens to Betsy is another variation of the phrase for Heaven’s sake, which began as a euphemism for what some considered the blasphemous for God’s sake and for Christ’s sake.
