Unlike most 12 year-olds, Maya Clayton is desperate to go to bed early. Falling asleep is the only chance she has to save her dad - the brilliant but slightly odd Professor Dexter. Hello Yellow - 80 Books to Help Children Nurture Good Mental Health and Support With Anxiety and Wellbeing - Maya loves to dream, both daydreaming (which gets her in trouble at school) and dreaming at night. When a boy from one of her dreams turns up in real life, she's really not sure what's going on. But he knows. His name is Teddy Flamewood and he and his sister are there to help Maya use her dreaming skills to put things right. This is a fabulous story with a broad appeal (not least to Geography teachers who could use the “wave-cut platform” rap in class to great effect!). The plot is fast-paced, has comic-style fonts which will encourage reading aloud, as well as a clever narrative style which enables the authors to befriend and talk directly to their reader. In addition, there are many laugh-out-loud moments which combined with the subtle undertones of how to face your fears, will leave children wanting to read more. It’s a triumph! The Great Dream Robbery is full of rich language and descriptive paragraphs entwined within the humour. There is an endearing cast of characters, as well as the truly villainous character of Lilith Delamere. In an attempt to stop Lilith’s dastardly plan, there is an extremely bizarre battle involving a unicorn called Donald, a seal and an army of line dancing robots. This book could definitely be enjoyed in the classroom - probably as a class reader. Or as in my case, in the library for book club – as it has left me with a plethora of activity ideas. In line with the National Curriculum, all of our ‘The Great Dream Robbery’ activities have been designed especially for use within children aged between 7 and 11 years old. How are these ‘The Great Dream Robbery’ activities useful?

I am a tad tired and still have a few other things to write so I am going to make a list review with all I loved. Normally this list would also contain a not so good part, but I just don’t have any complaints. XD The Great Dream Robbery is a rollercoaster ride of circus-like fun that will stretch the imagination and prompt lots of giggles. Featuring a hospital heist, some banana-loving llamas and a talking cat called Bin Bag, this is one mind-bending adventure you won't want to wake up from. The fourth wall being broken! I just love it when books do that and I was already looking forward to seeing it happen in this book. They also did it in their Kid Normal book, so I knew I would be in for a treat in this book. I love that the machine was called CHEESE. OK, it also brought forth some hunger pangs because I love love cheese.Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments have been reading this with Riley since the New Year and we have LOVED it! Fun, fantastical and laugh out loud – it has all a kid’s book needs to be a great bedtime adventure of a read. Featuring a hospital heist, a mattress salesman, hairdressing accessories from a skip, a unicorn singing show tunes, and lots of cows, this witty comedy thriller showcases the resourcefulness and courage of a trio of youngsters known as the Dream Bandits. A really fun read....I think reading this to kids would be great fun and/or listening to the audio book would be amazing, the next time I want to "read" it I'll definitely look to see if there is an audio version available.

Created in partnership with Puffin Books, they’re the perfect way to support reading ‘The Great Dream Robbery’ with your class. By the crazy creators of the hilarious and clever Kid Normal series, The Great Dream Robbery is even more imaginative - even using imagination to drive the plot. As always, the authors often stop to speak directly to the reader, whether to explain something, apologise for something or to just make us laugh. Greg James is the host of Radio 1's Drivetime show and the Official Chart. He is also a familiar face on TV, and in February he completed his #GREGATHLON - five triathlons in five different cities on five consecutive days - raising over GBP1,000,000 for Sport Relief. In 2014 he won Gold for 'Best Entertainment Show' at the last ever Radio Academy Awards, which arguably makes him the most entertaining radio presenter in perpetuity. Greg has no superpowers. In his spare time he enjoys the idea of having hobbies. But in reality, he's made all of them into work. Loved the plans the kids had and loved that they all did it in dinky old van with a mattress on top. Loved that the van was electric and had a laugh at how they had to divide the energy between driving or the lab in the book.I loved the later part of the book with them breaking into the dream lab! That was just so much fun to read and see what these kids get up to! Lots of imagination and tons of laughter from my side.
