Okay, wow! This was a lot. I have so many thoughts. So first of all, the cover is lovely but the book needed a better name and summary. I think people will skip it thinking it’s about nursing or a medical drama. That’s actually what I had in mind when I requested it but I liked this much more.

Nell Sweeney is a nurse leading a very ordinary life, until one day she is taken while walking to the hospital where she works. Nell never expected something like this to happen, but soon learns that she was likely being watched by her abductor. And that he is likely watching others too. She is praying to be found before its too late! It takes amazing skill to turn such an agonising subject matter into an unputdownable plot, the way Claire Allan has done with 'The Nurse.' Her story-telling technique is unfaltering, be it in the tangible portrayal of Nell's sheer terror, Stephen's helplessness, Marian's alternating feelings of grief, dread and numbness, or in the characterization of the antagonist whose twisted POV invokes revulsion and outrage in the reader. If you’re ever having a rough day as a nurse, this book will make you laugh and help you appreciate the humor in the human condition. The Code - these are the professional standards that everyone on our register must uphold throughout their practice Yes, an official trailer is available and it's gripping stuff. Pernille gets an induction into life at the hospital where she learns that "nurses are often on their own" and that she needs to be ready to use her initiative when needed. And Citycenter Medical, a longtime teaching hospital, is split between two dusty beige high-rises, perhaps representative of its dual personalities: a stalwart institution with top-notch doctors and an ER so poorly managed it is considered dangerous by many of its own staff. A 390-bed Level-1 trauma center, Citycenter has an emergency department that is crumbling beneath the weight of the 85,000 annual patients it does not have enough nursing staff to treat properly. While Pines Memorial treats more blunt force, multisystem traumas because of the car accidents, Citycenter’s traumas are typically isolated injuries, such as gunshot wounds. Easily reached by public transportation and in the heart of a densely populated city, Citycenter is a destination of choice for homeless people, drug-seeking addicts, and the uninsured.

Stress and Burnout Among Nurses: Role of the Work Work Stress and Burnout Among Nurses: Role of the Work

The Nurse is set in Nykøbing Falster Hospital in Denmark. On the surface it appears to be a pretty welcoming place for staff, everyone knows each other and turnover is low, so there's a great team rapport going on here. A dark thriller that hits close to home and has a mind-blowing twist I didn't see coming a mile away, Claire Allan's 'The Nurse' switches POVs between 22-year-old nurse Nell Sweeney who has just been kidnapped; her distraught mother Marian, and a man we are introduced to as 'Him'. Blending the reality of #MenAreTrash and taking a darker look at #NotAllMen and the 'incels' (people who describe themselves as involuntarily celibate) behind a movement championing 'men's rights', there's a lot to enjoy about this novel. Medical-Surgical Nursing: Critical Thinking in Client Care, Single Volume by Priscilla (LeMone) Koeplin There is hardly an emergency or critical care situation that Sherry has not worked in as a nurse. From the emergency room to Hurricane Katrina, she has put her nursing skills to work saving countless lives. In this book, she discusses traumatic situations and critical care from the patient’s and nurse’s point of view and offers an honest look into the life of a critical care nurse. Even for nurses who do not specialize in critical care, this book is a great read.

A rich, fast-paced book about heroic, neglected professionals; editor's recommendation."— Barnes and Noble

The Nurse: release date, plot, trailer and everything we know The Nurse: release date, plot, trailer and everything we know

A fascinating and somewhat alarming examination of the contemporary nursing profession...Robbins not only shows, she tells in this revealing expose of the modern day state of nursing. It is an eye-opener not to be missed.”—EarlyWord Bottom line is profits as usual, so staffing is kept at the absolute minimum. We are talking about life and death situations, where corporations crunch numbers weighing the possibility of a wrongful death suite against huge profits from understaffing. Here's an awful fact, Bureau of Labor Statistics report nursing is the third most dangerous profession, behind police and correctional officers! Nurses are bullied by doctors, if they report, they may lose their job, if they don't patients may die. Nurses are bullied by other nurses who rip apart inexperienced workers. There is even a term for this, "nurses eat their young." Clinical Knowledge Summaries is geared towards primary care practitioners and provides accessible summaries of the current evidence base and practical guidance on over 370 topics.

Nurses are not sex kittens. TV and movies even still portray nurses as the sex goddesses of the nursing world. This is an important and should be read by everyone, even if your not in the healthcare profession.
