Okay, I'm the first to admit I haven't loved anything I've read by Daniel Palmer, or his pen name, D.J. Palmer...that is, until now. There is the mystery of who really murdered Penny’s birth mother, is she innocent or guilty? We aren’t sure really how it was done and whether there are others behind the scenes manipulating the way Penny is being treated and how her defense should be handled.

The Perfect Daughter by D.J. Palmer is a psychological thriller that explores the truth behind a horrific murder.

Set expectations early. Say “Mom, I have [x, y and z] to finish before I’ll have time, but as soon as I am free, I will take care of this,” then complete all tasks before having to be asked additional times. When we arrested her, she was covered in blood—it was all over her body, in her hair—so when you come to the station, you should bring a change of clothes.…there are no visible wounds on Penny. But the victim was found deceased at the scene, and we believe it’s the victim’s blood on your daughter’s body.” L M F A O. Right away I knew the writing was ass so my only hope was a bomb ass plot. Unfortunately there was no plot to be located. Here's some examples of the asstastic/strange writing: Grace feels guilty. She should have done something earlier and now she must seek the help of Penny's new psychiatrist, Dr. Mitch McHugh to help her prove Penny has DID before it's too late. A daughter is a miracle that never ceases to be miraculous…full of beauty and forever beautiful…loving and caring and truly amazing. – Deanna Beisser

Grace blames herself, because that’s what mothers do—they look at their choices and wonder, what if? But hindsight offers little more than the chance for regret. The thing is, I'm not too crazy about books dealing with mental illnesses. But I'd heard great things about this author and the blurb sounded intriguing. I had to have it. Teach your daughters to worry less about fitting into glass slippers and more about shattering glass ceilings. – UnknownThe audiobook is fantastic, I highly recommend that medium, as the narrators truly sweep you up into the story! Listen carefully. When parents tell us to listen, it means more than just nodding while they talk. Demonstrate that you are not only engaged but learning through active listening. This is not just an act of respect. It also ensures that you remember what they’ve told you and can act on it appropriately. Below are tactics for active listening: [12] X Research source

The Perfect Daughter - Rotten Tomatoes

Those memories will help you through less joyous times when their adoration is replaced by embarrassment or annoyance and they don’t want you to see what they are doing or hear what they are saying. For example, if you parents want you to attend church with them, but you are not religious, let them know that you wish not to go. If you still have to attend their church, consider how you can still be true to your values during the experience. Resources like the Skeptics Bible offer some great conversation starters to get people thinking about the contradictions and inconsistencies within religious scriptures. [5] X Research source One of my pastimes is watching terrible Lifetime movies on Tubi, riffing throughout as they rarely ever disappoint in the cheese factor. Then here comes The Perfect Daughter, a film just from the title I figured would be an angst and cringe filled yarn. Incredibly, this is a very fine movie. Honestly! I love you for the little girl you once were, the amazing woman you are today, and for the precious daughter you will always be. – UnknownAlready reeling from tragedy after the sudden passing of her beloved husband a few years before, now Grace is on her knees, grateful that Massachusetts doesn't allow the death penalty. No, it’s against the rules,” Grace said again, thinking less is more. “She likes to take walks. I thought maybe she took the car to go to the beach or something and forgot to tell me.” The characters were lifelike and relatable. I found this story fascinating, it was an intriguing insight into a complex medical condition. They both began to giggle and then…fell into a side-splitting round of laughter, the cleansing, complete sort of laughter only a mother and daughter can share. – Karen Kingsbury Realistic portrayal of teens, no stupid twists, no cookie cutter good/bad guys (ok, the mean High School girls were 100% cliché) just well acted, well written and competently directed family yarn. Brady Smith is excellent in this and Parker Stevenson is on fire here. I still cant believe

Her smile makes me smile. Her laugh is infectious. Her heart is pure and true. Above all, I love that she is my daughter. – Unknown The Perfect Daughter is Daniel Palmer’s third domestic thriller using his D.J. Palmer pseudonym, and my (unpopular) opinion is that the third is a bit of a turd. Say powerful words from time to time. It completes them. Tell them “I love you” and then give them a hug or a kiss. Simple as that. Little things like that could make them feel thankful to have you as their daughter. As the song goes, “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey.” Be their sunshine! Make them feel loved every single day. Show how blessed you are to have them as your parents. At sixteen years old, Penny is found in her birth mothers apartment covered in blood, a knife in her hand, her birth mother dead. It's obvious that Penny is the murderer and she's arrested at the scene. When asking, always ensure you've thought through the possible outcomes of what you are asking to do and anticipate the concerns your parents will have. Raising a daughter is like growing a flower. You give it your best. If you’ve done your job well, she blooms. – Unknown
