Martin and Peggy Chance are about to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary and their children are supposed to be coming together to plan a party. The Chance siblings, Ford, Cooper and Palmer, however are having a hard time agreeing on any of the details for the big bash celebrating the parents they love. We have multiple POVs that I found fun to read, but it is hard getting everyone straight. 6 POVs! Holy hell. This book reminds me a bit of my queen Elin Hilderbrand’s writing (I am thinking of Beautiful Day), which is always a good thing in my book. I close my book, giving up, and crouch down to unzip my suitcase again. I hope Mom’s right, that we’re all really going to hit it off, although it’s Mason and Natalia I most want to spend time with. It’s been far too long since my brother, my cousin, and I have truly talked.

If I was home, I’d be skiing with Jay right now. Unfortunately, my dream of spending break with my boyfriend of nearly six months evaporated into sunshine and salt air as soon as Dad announced this trip—a reunion for the Mayweather clan, culminating in an engagement party for Dad and Elizabeth on the final night. My attendance was mandatory. As you can imagine, with the family drama, this book can be a bit heavy. But Meghan Quinn does a wonderful job of showing all sides of this complicated family relationship and writes family tension that everyone with significant family tension will relate to. Each love story is fantastic. I loved them all. It was gripping, had an air of nostalgia about it, the storyline was easy to follow, and (most unlike me) I guessed 'who done it'! Liv pushes herself so hard to stay professional, restraining her feelings when she’s around Ransom but their attraction is palpable and undeniable. On the other hand, the writers think for reboot of the show with radical changes which probably affect Liv’s decisions to be part of the show! Martin and Peggy were absolutely delightful parents! They were fun loving and quite the jokers. I was rolling with some of the things they'd say, and Martin's coloring was good stuff.Ford Chance: As the eldest Chance, Ford is such a stuffy fella who is all work and no play. His bullheaded attitude kind of blinds him to his siblings concerns and it was frustrating at times because he was being so difficult! With the support of her sister, she plots her revenge on the former friends who derailed the course of her life.

I really loved the premise of this story! The drama and intrigue of having a second chance romance set in Hollywood? Yeah - that sounded like messiness tenfold.I loved how Phillips included an older sister for Emily. Her sister, Helen, was her biggest supporter, always encouraging and concerned about Emily but never judging her. Emily’s sister, Helen, is my new hero. Mom only has an inch or two on me; “hon” is definitely directed at Mason, who towers over both of us. Dad’s in a hurry the moment we touch down, eager to meet up with Elizabeth and her kids. My soon-to-be family, which is beyond weird to think about. It’s been ten years since Mom died, ten years that Dad and I have been a unit of two. What we have works fine, but I’m trying to keep an open mind. Elizabeth makes Dad happy, and she seems cool enough. It’s the other Mayweathers—eight on this trip alone—I’m not so sure about. I was a firm believer in the García Márquez maxim: “Everyone has three lives: a public life, a private life, and a secret life.”

The story is laced with the arrogance of those who have an air of entitlement and assumed superiority; and is shot through with elements of outrageously toxic and debauched behaviour of student drinking societies – both fascinating and revolting in equal measure. There were some parts in the early chapters that felt over-descriptive (a play-by-play of Liv's every move isn't really necessary), but either it got better or I stopped noticing. The gossip articles sprinkled in between chapters was a fun and insightful touch. I also enjoyed his great, detailed, and atmospheric descriptions of the area, a region the author personally knows very well. Actually, Musso’s novels are often informed by places he is very familiar with, whether it be the South of France, Paris, or New York. Are you ready for six--yes, SIX--POVs? Okay, before I even dig into the the POV-party, I wanna say that there is a Novella that PRECEDES the is book, titled THE ONE NIGHT, and you should absolutely read it first. No, you don't have to. You won't necessarily be lost if you don't, but it is a great intro and really adds to this book if you read it first. So, what genre would I consider this? Well, a romcom of course, but it’s also so much more than that! It’s a romcom with family drama thrown in. This book hits a lot of emotions and watching all three of these siblings find love and even acceptance with one another was truly wonderful. I just adored this book to pieces. The chapters alternate between these two years, with narratives in first- and third-person. As the friends wait with fear for the upcoming days that may lead them to prison, they try to reminisce and figure out what really happened to Vinca, a girl they realize was very mysterious. Ford, Cooper and Palmer Chance are home to plan and attend their parents' anniversary party. The relationship between all of them is strained and distant. Each of them have their own ideas of how to plan the party which just festers all of their ill feelings toward each other. While dealing with each other, they also are dealing with potential relationships. Cooper is my favorite Chance sibling, while I thought Palmer needed a little growing up to do. She was somewhat hateful towards Chance, which irritated me.
