Jane, recently divorced, decides to bring along her best friend, Lauren and Sawyer brings his gloomy girlfriend, April. Jane, who dated Sawyer in high school and really never got over him, isn’t exactly excited about April’s presence. A group of close friends gathers at a secluded cabin in the wintry mountains of Colorado for a final holiday hurrah. Instead, it may be their last stand. First a massive blizzard leaves them marooned. Then the more chilling realization: something is lurking in the woods, watching them, waiting... The beginning (aside from the characterizations) started out strong, and with a healthy dose of comical sarcasm thrown in.This novel is told from multiple perspectives, the omniscient narrator jumps between characters to reveal the entire tale. Snow can be magical, softly blanketing the landscape, making everything look beautiful and unreal. But snow and ice can also be dangerous and menacing, and in the hands of horror authors, cold weather can create an atmosphere of real terror. To send a truly memorable shiver up your spine, all that’s needed are some not-so-friendly creatures lurking among the snowdrifts…

Most issues that impact your wheels and tyres can lead to your car juddering. If you have incorrect tyre pressure or balance, then it can lead to uneven tyre wear or damaged tyres. This all leads to juddering. I would definitely recommend this to any fan of the Horror genre; particularly, if you, like me, enjoy Horror stories set in Winter. This is the perfect book for that vibe! The critters in this creature feature are tall, gaunt, obviously starving, and disturbingly intelligent in certain ways. It makes for a fascinating game of cat and mice. The author builds up the tension quite beautifully, and I was hooked through the whole thing. The group of three old friends is interesting. Sawyer definitely doesn’t fit in with Ryan and Jane, but because they all grew up together, they all get along despite that. Unfortunately since they don’t have that shared history with April, they (unconsciously) shut her out. For April’s part, these are not the kinds of people she’s used to spending time with, and she doesn’t handle that entirely well. With the exception of one part of April’s characterization (which is in the spoiler section at the end of this review), I loved the characters. Even a couple of guys trying to get out and plow the snow have a surprising amount of personality.The main temple feels like a big gothic cathedral, at least in the public areas. The Zessin temple reminds me of the temples from Sharon Shinn's Elemental Blessings series.
