About this deal

Robertson's book is referenced in the 2009 video game Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors in regard to the game's setting. What it’s about: Two ships receive the distress calls from the sinking Titanic within minutes of each other – one races to help, the other chooses not to.

Not too many people heard the sound of Titanic hitting the iceberg, but it was very recognizable to the lookouts and crew onboard. In the next two hours and forty minutes, the maiden voyage of Titanic became one of the worst maritime disasters in history. Walter Lord bases this book off of sixty-three survivor accounts for a moment-by-moment account of one of the bleakest nights in the twentieth century. The book’s structure is that of a sequential archive illustrated by more than a thousand contemporary photographs, including Harland & Wolff’s original architectural plans and engineering drawings. It moves from the launch in Belfast to life… The film based on the book and with advice from Lord, was released in 1958. Lord also served as a consultant to Canadian film director James Cameron while he was making his film Titanic in 1997.Who will enjoy this book: Although there is light adventure and mystery, at its heart this is a book about books and their significance, so if that’s your thing, add this to your pile of must-read Titanic books! Who will enjoy this book: It’s a solid Titanic book for elementary-aged students to help learn about the Titanic, tolerance and life. The ship sank on its maiden voyage in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg that had gone unnoticed. Over 1,500 passengers and crew died of hypothermia and drowning, out of the 2,224 onboard. The philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and poet lived in what is now Iran, between 1048 and 1131. His achievements included creating the most precise solar calendar of the time but long after his death he would become more famous for his poetry, written in four-line verses known as quatrains
