I have probably read this book before some years before (no idea) but I read it anyway and it's 3 stars! (To be fair I rate all the kiddy books I read 3 stars) I enjoyed this much more with members of the appropriate audience, they are lovely and short as well for a listen, though I know we missed lots of illustrations/diagrams/visual jokes by audio-reading. Some good sound effects though and Grint does the voices very well. We understand that buying kids books can be expensive. That's why we offer a wide range of box sets and series at affordable prices, making it easier for parents, teachers, and libraries to access quality books for children. Even though ultimately it was useless, some parts were funny! Tom Gates was acting too young for his age, I mean I have a brother who's about the same age and he's so not like this. To all those who're saying every child is different and unique, don't you think that "They put my arm in a bandage ( I was very brave)" is too much even for a 10 year old? 🤷I've read this before. Before children I believe. It's different when you're a parent and you are reading/listening with your own offspring. You realise that this sort of Horrid Henry-type character is actually NOT horrifyingly awful and a bad influence. I'm hoping that I can steer some of my young library patrons to this series. I thought the writing was just as good as Wimpy Kid, and I think the overall story is much better. As I said, I also don't see the stereotypes in this first book like I did in Wimpy Kid. Only time will tell if Tom stays the course, or if he walks down the Wimpy Kid road to cruelty. Welcome to Books2Door, the one-stop shop for all your children's book needs! We specialise in selling cheap children’s box sets and series at bargain prices.

Book Twenty One of the hilarious, bestselling Tom Gates series, written by the brilliantly talented Liz Pichon! Although always seeming to be in trouble, Tom does it the nicest way, he always seems so innocent and I really liked him as a character. I had a 5- and 11-year old giggling along to this in the car over the course of a few school runs. And we've moved straight to book 2 now as well. I LOVED IT it was super good but i have only read 3 so far but i love them already love them 1.tom gates is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC My boys were rapt really. A few comments about his meanness towards his older sister (phew!), but the Delia song was enjoyed by all (yes me too) and is not being sung regularly at random intervals at home. Oops. Good thing I have two boys.Petunia Perry is writing her memoir to fully explain why she's no longer friends with Cammy - and why, therefore, she and Cammy's band are unlikely to be the Next Big Thing. Claire on Facebook revealed that her 9-year-old is 'flying through' the World of Normbooks by Jonathan Meres and illustratorDonough O'Malley, and they are 'very popular' at @HazeleyLibrary (where The Private Blog of Joe Cowley by Ben Davis is also going down well). Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments For all those young readers first exploring new genres and getting to grips with the breadth of the English language, we don't talk enough about short stories. Short stories are rewarding and powerful, and through them you can dip in and explore a wide range of writing. Great ideas from Tamsin, then - and you didn't disappoint either, coming up with some brilliant suggestions! Here are some of our favourites:

Tom Gates is Absolutely Fantastic (at some things) Tom Gates is Absolutely Fantastic (at some things)

Cute start to a series about Tom Gates, a fifth year student who loves to draw, has a crush on one of his classmates, and is perpetually late to school (and always blames his older sister, Delia, for his tardiness).

Tom has forgotten to bring his baby photo into school, his shoes are making embarrassingly rude noises, and, as he rushes to the classroom, he bumps into the snuffling Amber who sneezes all over him. What else can go wrong? We’ve created a series of cross-curricular lesson plans specifically to allow teachers to lead curriculum-linked Tom Gates lessons in the classroom. Each lesson plan comes with printable activity sheets and contains everything you need to cover the whole Tom Gates series with your class. Book Thirteen of the hilarious, bestselling Tom Gates series, written by the brilliantly talented Liz Pichon!
