Description

When in the woods Ari in his pyjamas meets a strange young boy, Timmy in a red hat, who he strikes up a friendship with. But why is Timmy lurking in the woods all the time? And does Timmy live where he says he does? And will Ari find his sister? I also really liked that I only needed to use my red pen a couple of times. It is nice to read a book that is polished and well-written.

Indie publisher Hashtag Press have acquired the UK & Commonwealth rights to the middle-grade novel from literary agent Chloe Seger at Madeleine Milburn. Chloe said: “Sana’s middle-grade debut is truly spine-tingling and the kind of book kids will want to stay up late reading under the covers with a torch. I can’t wait for readers to meet Ari!” Here’s a little more of what’s to come: The Mr Twig Colouring Sheets are the perfect, light-hearted afternoon activity. These will help your little one wind down after a stressful day. Colouring is a great mindfulness activity, so completing these will contribute positively to your child's general wellbeing. The Twig Man would have me shaking in fear, he’s half tree half man a monster without no face and has eyes everywhere. A year ago Ali’s sister Lana went missing, the police believe Lana chose to leave. Ari knows his sister would never leave him behind. Ari knows that Lana often went into the woods alone. The school where Ari attends, they all talk about the Twig Man.Horizontal + Motion Sensitivity Enabled: TWIG SOS cycle is launched when device main axis orientation deviates from absolute upright position more than Tilt Angle (in degrees), AND detected device movement (acceleration) falls below a threshold value defined by Motion Sensitivity. ManDown alarm is triggered when both rules are met: The Twig Man, is a creepy monster that' has haunted the woods for one hundred years. No one else will listen to Ari if she tells people what happened to Lana. It all down to her now to find and save her sister. But, she better hurry as she is next on his list!!! With an engagingly strident narrative voice, this is aimed at pre-teen readers who areedging towards more grown-up perspectives, with wonderful details about the family’sKurdish heritage (and a glossary of Kurdish terms) threaded through the haunting tale.

But he had better hurry, as Ari finds himself next on The Twig Man’s list Here’s what Sana’s editors had to say about her bewitching debut: I really liked the friendship that Ari and Timmy formed and that they worked together to solve everything and to end the reign of the evil twig man. It was actually fascinating reading about all the things they did together to try, and though most plans failed they tried. She developed a passion for writing after her father gifted her with the Narnia collection. They would take weekly trips to Waterstones and it became a tradition to scour through the many titles. Her true calling, however, has been writing books that scare and thrill. She grew up reading anything by R.L Stine, Stephen King and Agatha Christie and continues to navigate towards the supernatural/horror genre. The plot plays out well. The foreshadowing shares enough to keep you guessing and the mystery keeps you wanting to read more. The story itself is original and well written.I loved this debut by Sana Rasoul. She's an author definitely worth looking out for. I can't wait to re The Twig Man by Sana Rasoul was a perfect book for youngsters from the age of 8 upwards ,reading as a group sitting round a camp fire at Halloween or sitting with a group of friends at school reading this together or even scarier reading it on your own hiding under your quilt cover with a torch. Especially as The Twig Man is a creepy tale that takes you on an adventure in the dark woods near where Ari lives. Ari is the main character in this book and her older sister Lana ran away. Thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. A thrilling horror mystery middle grade novel whcih would be enjoyed by all ages. I throughly enjoyed this book and am excited to see what sana rasoul comes up with next. I dont normally read horror books but this book is perfect for the spooky autumn season and im really glad i requested a copy. This story follows the disappearance of Ari’s sister who Ari makes it his mission to find after he remembers of the horrors storys of the monster living in the woods who kidnaps children. This book will have you on the edge of your seat throghout

The Twig Man : The Week Junior Book Awards 2023

A good, Spooky story, perfect for younger kids. Fast paced, good plot line and kept you engaged in the story the whole way through with a good mystery. Obviously probably would have liked it more when I was younger and will probably let my sons read it when they get older. About This Edition ISBN: With plenty of screaming and a creepy location, not to mention the potentially true urban legend, this book would have scared me as a kid. It wouldn’t have helped that pretty much everywhere Ari turns, he’s being watched by animals with white eyes. Thank you to Hashtag Press and Netgalley for providing me with a digital Arc in exchange for an honest review! Sana Rasoul was born in Slemani (Iraq) and lived in Baghdad until she was seven. She is a writer and teacher of Politics. She graduated with an MSc in International Relations from SOAS university (2012) and currently lives in London. Sana has been teaching and tutoring since 2013 and has contributed to magazines such as Politics Review. This is a great horror book that I think children that like creepy eerie horror would enjoy, it has all the right elements that will draw them in and grip them from start to finish. With the eeriness of a twig like man lurking around everywhere and controlling the woods, to evil white eyed animals and critters creeping around. We believe there’s a lot of interest amongst children for hair-raising stories that keep readers on the edge of their seats but are age appropriate. The Twig Man combines elements of the classic ghost story with themes such as friendship, family and self discovery. We think it’s going to be a big hit with young readers.”– Helen Lewis, co-director at Hashtag Press
