Coconut creams certainly have the most distinct taste of all the vegan creams, with many recipes specifying their inclusion. This offering from Waitrose is both affordable and tasty, making it a great addition to any pantry.

Our favourite vegan cream is the Creamy Oat from Oatly, as it makes the perfect single cream replacement for any recipe. Whether you're making a creamy carbonara or curry, looking to pour into your coffee, or onto a pie or tart, this is fantastic. There are a few things you need to make coconut whipped cream at home: a can of full-fat coconut milk, a bowl, and a hand mixer. Pour the coconut milk into the bowl and put it in the fridge overnight. The next day, open the can and scoop out the solidified coconut cream that has risen to the top. Whip the cream with the hand mixer until it’s light and fluffy. Sweeten to taste with sugar, honey, or another sweetener. Serve immediately or store in the fridge for later. There are many recipes for vegan whipped cream, all of which use plant-based ingredients instead of dairy. The most common base for vegan whipped cream is coconut cream, which is the solid white part that forms at the top of a can of full-fat coconut milk. Other popular bases include cashews, almonds, and soy milk. To make vegan whipped cream, the chosen base is blended with sugar, vanilla extract, and any other desired flavorings until it is light and fluffy.Want a flavoured mocha? The options are endless! A little bit of vanilla extract goes a long way, but you could also use peppermint extract or some caramel coffee syrup. The supermarket is offering Freedom’s marshmallows in two different varieties: mini pink & white, and regular sized vanilla. In addition to this, they have also added soy-based Hopla whipped cream in a spray can to their shelves. Because this mousse has such a pure chocolate flavour it is important to use a good quality chocolate that tastes good. A poor quality chocolate will yield a subpar mousse. Just sayin. Outside of the canned coconut creams, there aren't many long-lasting vegan creams available. This long-life soya single cream from Alpro is UHT-treated, so it will happily sit in a cupboard until you're ready to use it.

Squirty cream (aerosol cream) for serving - This is optional, but it makes it feel a bit more like a real coffee shop drink. We used reduce fat to keep it lighter. When heating the chocolate and coconut cream, you must make sure that the mixture does not become too hot otherwise the chocolate can sieze (become grainy or oily). The water bath should be just simmering, not boiling, and the base of the bowl must not touch the water.

Add the rest of the aquafaba in three more batches, folding it in very gently until it is uniformly combined. You don't want there to be any more streaks of chocolate or aquafaba, but don't keep mixing for too long, you don't want to deflate the mousse. (It will lose a bit of volume however and become slightly more runny - don't worry, this is normal). A recommendation service that carefully researches each product and consults with experts across many disciplines. It is scary how much sugar goes in to some coffee drinks. Whilst that is fine as a once in a while thing, if you are coffee shop regular it's easy to end up drinking most of your daily calories everyday. Stir until almost all of the chocolate has melted then remove the bowl from the heat and continue to stir gently until melted and smooth. The ganache should be smooth and glossy, see tips in the post above if it goes oily or grainy.

If you wan to make your coffee a little more fancy, then why not add a flavoured syrup to it. Vanilla, caramel and cinnamon all go really well with this. If you can't find Choc Shot, then any chocolate syrup will work. We love Choc Shot though, because it's made from fruit making it a natural sweetener. May contain Milk. The product is made to a vegan recipe in a facility that uses Milk and therefore not suitable for those with a Milk allergy. It has a rich chocolate flavour and is not too sweet. The texture is light and airy and oh-so-moreish. I love it served with some fresh berries to cut through the richness a little, and maybe a dollop of whipped coconut cream or vegan squirty cream to top it all off. There are many vegan whipped cream recipes that don’t require coconut. Most of these recipes use soy milk, but there are also recipes that use rice milk, almond milk, and even cashew milk. The key to making a good vegan whipped cream is to find a recipe that uses a high-fat milk and to make sure that the milk is cold when you start the whipping process. Water, Fully Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil (RSPO) (15%), Sugar (10%), Dextrose, Propellant: Nitrous Oxide, Glucose Syrup, Humectant: Sorbitol, Emulsifiers: Mono- and Diacetyl Tartaric Acid Esters of Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids, Polysorbate 60, Stabiliser: Hydroxpropylmethylcellulose; Starch, Salt, Flavouring. While it is not strictly necessary to reduce the aquafaba I do find that it gives better, more consistent results and reaches stiff peaks more easily if it has been reduced rather than used straight from the can. When it comes to whipped cream sprays, vegans have been left unable to top up their hot chocolates, coffees, and desserts for the longest time, but now thanks to Food Heaven, they have a spray of their own!
