Home care products may be able to remove small warts, but they may only temporarily reduce the size or appearance of larger growths. Removal can take a couple of weeks or more, but that’s faster than most acid treatments. There’s none of the stinging discomfort you get with a freeze treatment, so it’s much more suitable for children. The main downside is that the stuff comes out of the tube fast when you first open it, so be careful not to get it on healthy skin.

Warts are small lumps that often develop on the skin of the hands and feet. They vary in appearance and may develop singly or in clusters. Do not use Scholl Verruca and Wart Remover in combination with any other method of verucca or wart removal. Always use the applicator when applying the product.

Try not to get the acid on the skin next to the wart, as it may become irritated. You can protect the nearby skin by putting some Vaseline® on the normal skin beforehand, or by putting on a plaster with a hole in it which just exposes the wart for treatment. Before applying the treatment, soften the wart by soaking it in water and rubbing it with an emery board or pumice stone to remove any excess hard skin. If necessary, protect it with a plaster / sterile bandage, or if the blister has opened, disinfect it properly. A 2019 study found a slightly higher success rate for the cryosurgical removal of genital warts: 79–88%. The researchers also found that it was safe during pregnancy.

Verruca-Freeze is a hand held aerosol canister that contains a proprietary, highly optimized formulation of refrigerated gases that medical professionals can use for cryosurgery and cryotherapy in an outpatient setting to freeze a lesion down to -70°C (-94°F). Verruca-Freeze is a convenient and cost effective alternative to traditional liquid nitrogen methods as it is designed for hand-held use and completely portable. Assemble the applicator so it’s ready for freezing. Place upside down on a flat surface and ‘charge’ the device by pressing down on the safety cap for 1 second. Remove device from cap while keeping cap held firmly on flat surface. If you use nail files or pumice stones on your wart or verruca, don’t share these or use on other areas of your skin. Verrucae are most commonly seen in children, teenagers and young adults - largely those who use communal changing rooms. It is possible to develop an immunity against the virus over time but most people remain susceptible, although some more than others. How do I know I have them?If salicylic acid and freezing medicine don't work, your health care provider may suggest one or more of the following treatments:

So, we asked you to help us find out whether using duct tape on warts or verrucas was actually helpful. Several hundred of you put this technique to the test and got in touch to let us know how you got on and now the numbers have been crunched and the results are in... Freezing medicine (cryotherapy). Cryotherapy is done in a clinic and involves applying liquid nitrogen to the wart, either with a spray or a cotton swab. This method can be painful, so your health care provider may numb the area first. Warts are small rough lumps on the skin. They are caused by a virus (human papillomavirus) which causes a reaction in the skin. Warts can occur anywhere on the body but occur most commonly on hands and feet. They range in size from 1 mm to over 1 cm. Sometimes only one or two warts develop. Sometimes several occur in the same area of skin. The shape and size of warts vary and they are sometimes classed by how they look. Examples are: About 24 hours after the procedure, a blister forms around the wart, and it resolves within 2 or 3 days.Loo, S. K.-F.,& Tang, W. Y.-M. (2014, June 12). Warts (non-genital). BMJ Clinical Evidence, 2014, 1710.Retrieved from Usually, plantar warts, large warts, and those in areas with a lot of pressure or friction tend to cause the most pain and complications, such as scarring or tissue damage.

Left untreated, warts can grow in size and get harder to treat. Untreated warts can also spread to create clusters, spread to other parts of your body (for example, to your feet, where they can grow inwards and become painful verrucas), and spread to other people. So get yourself a good wart remover, and get rid.For painful and/or unsightly verrucae or ones that are spreading, you can self-treat using ointments and gels from your local pharmacist following the instructions carefully. Sometimes, merely rubbing away the dry skin over a verruca and applying a plaster helps to stimulate the body’s immune system to fight the infection. However, if your verruca becomes unusually painful or the surrounding skin area goes red, stop treatment immediately and see a podiatrist. This is because if the healthy tissue around a verruca is damaged, you could hamper further treatment. There are many creams, gels and medicated plasters for treating warts and verrucas. You can buy these over the counter at a pharmacy. If you see a GP about a wart or verruca, they will usually suggest this first too. Hard skin on top of the wart makes freezing more difficult, so to achieve the best results follow these steps:
