About this deal

The Voiceless: Rabbit only screams in pain and horror. Toward the end of the book she begins to communicate with the others. First Father Wins: In contrast to their feelings toward the stepfather, most of the Troops remember Truddi's biological father as a warm, loving man. The Big Guy: Mean Joe Green, although his imposing presence is strictly mental; people do sense it, and he can be very intimidating until you get to know him. If you're at all interested in psychology and the potential of the human psyche to both splinter and protect itself, then you should read this book.

Twelve: A twelve-year-old genius capable of explaining the Troop's mechanisms and other ponderous philosophies in plain language. It is an amazing story, and almost feels like a fanasty. Even having read it, I still fee like I could have no idea what someone like this could possibly be going through, it's horrific and frightening and one hundred percent engrossing. Finally, I want to accept the phenomenon of multiples, or D.I.D. as it is now known. And I want to believe that people would not undertake deception in the name of mental health and understanding. But contrary to the purported intention, this book made a skeptic out of me. I believe in the vast capabilities of the mind, and is psychic abilities and in a state of transcendant spirituality. But I didn't believe any of that was truly at work here.I think this is a really good film for Shelley to have done because it shows that she is a much better actor than she got to show in "Cheers". Pretending to be a different kind of person than you are in real life is good acting, and convincingly playing several different kinds of people in one film is great acting. It is true that the medical condition isn't examined as a medical condition but in my opinion that is not the point if making this film - it was just to give the viewer a feeling of what having multiple personalities does to the subject's family and friends, and in my case it succeeded in that endeavour. Kann es nur empfehlen, wenn man sich für multiple Persönlichkeitsstörung bzw dissoziative Identitätsstörung interessiert.

In 1987 Chase published her autobiography, When Rabbit Howls, which was written from the perspective of her many identities. [3] [7] It begins with an introduction from her therapist, and then presents Chase's experience with her 92 personalities. [3]Talking to Themself: The Troops have internal conversations with each other. They believe this is "thought transference," an old-fashioned term for telepathy. Astraea wrote: "Sheila wrote: "I realize that there is A PERSON, who suffered so much trauma - "split" to deal with the horror. BUT... each personality is sooo defined and has their own character, beliefs, feelin..." It confused me, it scared me, it intrigued me and it saddened me. It is an unbelievable non fiction account that literally makes me questions a time or two if it can really be true. It portrays the incredible strength of the human mind in the face of adversity and even the weaknesses of it.

I hope it is okay to share it here: http://dana.org/Cerebrum/2008/Coming_Apart__Trauma_and_the_Fragmentation_of_the_Self/ My review, then, is on this "historical fiction" narrative and NOT on the experience of The Troops. When Rabbit Howls is a 1987 autobiography by "The Troops" (the collective name for the author's multiple personalities) writing for Truddi Chase. A fascinating book…unusual and very emotionally touching.”—Dr. Cornelia Wilbur, the psychiatrist who treated Sybil

Lady Catherine Tisseau: A haughty, snobbish woman who insists on perfect manners and imposes them on others. So, Truddi Chase survives a horrific childhood. She develops 92 personalities as a way of dealing with both the terrible things that happens to her and the subsequent memories that they leave behind-- each personality is responsible for a different set of memories, so the whole thing doesn't have to hurt or overwhelm her at once. The person known as "Truddi" is basically an empty shell that the personalities use to make themselves known.
