Like many horror subgenres, zombie films are often loved in spite of - or even because of - their cheesiness, whether it’s poor acting, a brain-dead plot, gratuitous violence and nudity, or all of the above. The original game is an excellent way to introduce younger kids to cooperative games, and in fact got an honorable mention in our top 6 games for younger kids. Because the group wins or loses together I could coach my kids and teach them tactical decision-making and strategy. Depending on your choices and the roll of the die, games usually take around 5-10 minutes, which is perfect for younger kids’ attention spans. Harrison (13): It’s a great game, I really enjoy it. I think it looks awesome and I like how the game changes over time.

Zombie Kidz Evolution | Board Games | Zatu Games UK

Zombie Kidz Evolution brings all the excitement of a legacy game to a family friend co-op. Opening the box you will find a series of sealed numbered envelopes, which you will be tempted to open straight away. Resist your urges though as these envelopes contain gameplay elements that you will earn the more you play. Best of all this legacy game is totally playable at the end - no destroying any components here! But how does it compare to the original” you might ask? I’ll be honest, while the game play is roughly the same, the difference is night and day, like comparing a minivan to a muscle car. From the next paragraph onwards my thoughts contain some minor spoilers, but if you want to avoid all spoilers then here’s what you need to know: Zombie Kidz Evolution is a huge improvement and strengthening of what was already a fun children’s co-operative game. And best of all, win or lose, you always get to make some progress. There is a ton of content and even after releasing everything, you’ll be able to continue to enjoy the game. The Walking Dead: All Out War A miniatures war game set in Robert Kirkman's comic-book universe Drawing from the Walking Dead comics rather than the TV show, All Out War captures the series' struggle for survival. Zombie Teenz Evolution is the sequel to Zombie Kidz Evolution (#1 Kids' Game on BGG). It is a standalone game with a different set of rules, so you don’t need to have played the first game to jump into the second. The rules are slightly more advanced and will require a little more strategic thinking. Roll the dice and add a zombie card to the board area matching the dice colour (5 board areas, 5 colours on the dice and one blank, which means no zombie that turn)

Zombie Kidz Evolution | Le Scorpion Masqué

This adds a really fun element of anticipation and suprise to the game. I’m not going to spoil what’s inside the envelopes, but they do add extra layers of complexity at a manageable pace – just at the point where you perhaps figure that you’ve got the zombies under control. The good thing is that these extra components and rules are entirely optional if players find that they make the game too difficult or frustrating. Now its creator has returned with follow-up Zombie Teenz Evolution, and while there’s plenty here to appeal to fans of its predecessor, it also comes with a collection of new twists and challenges. Where Kidz’ action unfolded in the confines of a besieged school, Teenz widens its scope with a board showing a grid of city streets. You and your friends will need to work together to venture into the zombie-plagued environment, retrieving supplies from buildings before the dead manage to force their way inside. On their turn a player must first roll a custom die which determines where a new zombie is placed onto the board. The die has 6 differently colored faces (red, green, blue, purple, yellow, and white). Roll anything other than white and you must place the next zombie in line onto that colored space, roll a white and you’re spared for that turn; a one in 6 chance of a temporary retrieve from the horde waiting just outside. This is a Collecting and Traversal game with Race, Role-Play and Sequencing elements. You can play with 2 to 4 players in the same room. There's a two-player side to the board to adjust the challenge for two. It's really best played with three or four players though. Zombie Kidz Evolution is very firmly a legacy game, which means that rules are added, components change, items are removed and sometimes physically marked over time as you play. That's the entire concept of the game. If you or the people you play with are not going to be comfortable with that, then this type of game might not be for you. But this is a fantastic way to introduce young gamers to legacy games, and they will love the story element of the developing game.
