mm stereo TRS unbalanced headphone output with adjustable output volume via the touchscreen. (Although there is no physical knob for headphone volume, after you plug in your headphones, access is almost always available in the upper right corner of the touchscreen.) The below recording is uncompressed 48 kHz WAV. Use Ethernet, wifi or unmetered data. https://www.provideocoalition.com/wp-content/uploads/H8-review-audio-flat.wav In a future firmware update to the H8, Zoom should add a mix-minus option for the line output. It should be selectable in the menu for a particular input (i.e. A or B since they have a 1/4” line input).

A higher ohm rated headphone may also work well with the device, but would not be able to be driven as well by the output and may encounter volume issues. there are also other features on ZOOM H8 but i was using it only to record music so i can not say nothing about other featuresThe DR-10 SG is an incredibly compact unit that is well suited to vloggers who want to shoot handheld but with improved audio. Essentially, the DR-10 SG is a hotshoe mic, with a built-in audio record that stores files on a Micro SD card. The device tips the scales at just 110 g (including batteries) and a supercardioid shotgun microphone captures sound in front of the lens. Once the EHX-8 capsule is released the H8 can be expanded to 10 input channels and there's a ton of additional stuff I will be able to do... The current firmware of the H8 includes three powerful apps for different types of productions. Generally speaking, I like the apps and the way they work, but i believe they should be named differently to allow content producers to better understand and take advantage of them. This is certainly not a reason not to consider purchasing the H8 or to use the apps, but simply a better way to understand them and their possible uses (and a suggestion to Zoom to rename them in a future firmware update).

This would essentially result in a 32 Ohm rating for the headphone output on the device. In this case, headphones with a 32-100 ohm rating would be recommended. Out of the box and with little effort I was able to achieve great recordings of my kit using my AKG mic set. Happy days. Of course, I love that the H8 can record proper 48 kHz sampling frequency and 24-bit resolution (see 48kHzAllance.com and also my 2015 article Understanding 24-bit vs 16-bit audio production & distribution) in addition to higher sampling frequencies like 96 kHz (which —for the human voice— I can only justify if you plan to use slow motion audio in post) and lower ones that I don’t recommend at all, no matter what, not even for recording audio for virtual PBX/IVR interactive telephony production, as explained mathematically at 48KhzAlliance.com. Each one gives us deeper control. The only important limitation to understand is that we can only choose one of these three things per input. Test recording Connect the H8 to your computer using a USB A to Micro USB cable. iOS users will also need an Apple Lightning to USB Camera adapter to connect. The R07 is a great option for ‘Run & Gun’ videographers looking to capture improved sound for their productions. The small unit includes built-in stereo microphones and a port to plug in a lav mic: perfect when someone's presenting to camera. Now several months in after first buying this unit and still very happy with it, in general. However, the touchscreen is a real pain to make fine adjustments to volume, etc. So dont expect to do much on that. Also, strange thing seems to happen when I have it plugged in via usb to the mains supply and I connect a phantom large diaphram mic as well as any other phantom 48v mic - seems that the large diaphram drains a little too much power sometimes and the H8 just shuts down unexpectedly. Lost some work that way.

There is a useful LCD to show sound levels, plus you can also monitor at a distance using Bluetooth headphones. The R07 can run for 15 hours off two AA batteries, and features programmable Presets, so once you nail the settings for a scene, you won’t have to program them again, making this a great solution for indie filmmakers.

Different inputs: Look out for multiple inputs as this will allow you to mix up the microphones you use; from lav mics when presenting to XLR inputs for boom mics and shotgun mics to record ambient sound. Continuous battery operation times were determined using in-house testing methods. They will vary greatly according to use conditions.

Sweetwater Sound, 5501 U.S. Hwy 30 W, Fort Wayne, IN 46818 Get Directions | Phone Hours | Store Hours The H8 is compatible with Zoom’s new Capsule System 2.0 interface, and forthcoming options include an ambisonic module.Zoom currently offer six interchangeable microphone modules: Monitoring is via the internal mono speaker unless headphones are plugged in, the volume of either being controlled by a virtual slider accessed at the top of each app’s home screen. The maximum headphone volume is pretty good with low‑impedance phones, but there’s only the one output. While that might be fine for field and music recording, it’s rather restricting for podcasting, since the guests won’t be able to hear any stings or effects played in, even if they can hear each other acoustically. Yes, a headphone splitter or standalone amp could be used, of course, but its more boxes, wires and inconvenience. The power switch doubles up as a ‘hold’ facility to prevent accidental operation of the controls while recording.WaveLab Cast supports up to 96KHz audio quality and includes a high-end re-sampler. RestoreRig removes noise and unwanted sounds. You can assemble new files using the snap functions and crossfade options. Once you’re done, export your sound files in any popular audio format.
