Therefore, this is not designers trendy-fragrance for a metrosexual or a club guy. Also, It can be worn by nicely dressed younger man because it oozes with sex appeal, that's right. Cerruti is a scent of a stylish-real man, not an old man. Clean. Dry but refreshing. Citrusy. Herbal. Soapy. But not too much of anything. Old school but not old man. All the notes work together perfectly. The only downside is its poor projection on my skin, but for such a beauty, it's a joy to overspray! Not sure why I waited so long to get my hands on it. I strongly support opinion of all reviewers who wrote that 1881 is non-offensive, friendly, discrete, subtle, office-friendly and comforting perfume for semi-formal occasions and summer months. Crisp, clean, slightly powdery, blue-green aromatic fougere. Perfectly balanced. The first images that come to mind are powdery green and clear water. This is super-calming, super-fresh, super-natural, super-herbaceous. A little "Mumsy" in a sense, but don't take that as an insult. Cerruti's1881 is the compromise that turned out to be so great that I sometimes forget that it still is a compromise with my usual preferences. Personally I’m a big fan. I’m 26 and this is my go to spring fragrance although I’ve seen a bunch of people say it’s more suitable for older people I love the classic masculine freshness this brings at a great price. Only downside is I’ve noticed it can attract biting insects pretty damn well probably because it just smellsMostly mature men that I know still using it and some have had it on their shelf for more than 2 years The current formulation smells soapy to me, similar to the way coriander does (makes me feel like I have soap in my mouth). I'm probably oversensitive to some ingredient, or it just doesn't work well with my body chemistry. This is not necessarily fault of the reformulations ‒ the ingredient responsible for this may be present in the original formulation as well. However, I suspect the culprit is some synthetic ingredient (likely oakmoss). Unfortunately, this soap-in-the-mouth feeling is overbearing and makes the fragrance unenjoyable for me for the first hour or two. Once it settles down, it's a decent fougere (by today's standards anyway). Cerruti 1881 is a very pleasant aromatic fragrance with a fresh, soapy feel. But it's much ore than that...it is slightly herbal, a bit woody, a bit green, and with a light floral vibe all wrapped in a blanket of fresh spices. It is slightly powdery, camomile/fresia light-pink floral mix (the color of the bottle reflects the scent very well).

Looking at the notes for this really doesn't give a true representation of how it smells (to me anyway) as it truly feels like a scent that is blended with no real standout notes. LONGEVITY = 10:10 ( There's remnants of the smell on the dorsum of my hand after 12 hours with just one spray ). Woody , earthy and floral very masculine fragrance. It is very masculine , but are pronounced floral notes and a touch something feminine and gooey but not very pronounced.I bought my bottle of Cerutti 1881 in 2016.I remember smelling it in the early 90's and loved it,but somehow in the shuffle of life I forgot about it ,then could not find it for years. Just recieved a 2017-bottle (batch.nr. 7277) 25ml edt of this, made in France, and after letting the juice settle down and obtain room-temperature, I put on 3-4 sprays. Ohhh, at first, it smells kind of floral and sweet to me, but, then dries down to a clean, understanded scent with a 'saapy, almost cloying' accord. On my husband and I though, this came out closer to an aromatic hesperidic scent, somewhat marine and salty. Few mentioned it's fit only for grandfathers. I totally disagree with that. It's yet to become dated.

If you are a fan of Boucheron Pour Homme or the original Denim from the 70's, then you'll love this. As a true lover of opulent forals and rich orientals, I need not ask for more in daily use during hot summers. Sometime in the '90, my snobish sister recived a small bottle of this from this really nice lady, let's call her M. Her reaction was, "It came from M, so it must be good." While M was, and I suppose still is, delightfull human being, my sister's caracter leaves much to be desired. She has great qualities, but good taste and tact are not among them.

I know this isn’t unique but sometimes when I smell a perfume, my mind instantly makes a connection to a movie, a piece of art, a book or as in this case, a song. When I smelled 1881, all I heard in my mind was Donna Summer’s I Feel Love. Anyway, fast forward to 2021, and I had a little bottle, lying around, actually for over a year!! Lol and I was thinking of getting rid of it. I tried it on, one last time, and WOW! Just WOW! If I had not first sprayed the 1881 Cerruti gentleman’s version first, I might have been more impressed with this offering. Fragrance that became a classic of this designer’s house was launched in 1995. Nino Cerruti, was known as "the youngest of the great classics," opened the first Cerruti boutique in Paris in 1967, on rue Royale.But I would say this is one of the safest ways to try a truly ‘retro’ style fragrance. It’s got a vintage vibe that is still palatable in 2023. I wasn’t alive in the 90s but could picture this being the kind of thing my mum would’ve worn then and it being the ‘it’ girl of it’s day. In the middle, it goes through a phase of smelling like a luxe cake of provence soap. To make the image more precise, I don't mean a perfectly smooth factory-made soap, lovely though those may sometimes be; I am thinking of a handmade farmer's market soap, with little bits of dried herbs and flowers set into it! In the dry-down, there is the politest whiff of powdery vanilla sweetness. Eight hours in, the clean, cozy smell of cedar is still lingering faintly and the anisic fuzziness of mimosa is holding on as well. it feels like you are being hugged by someone who loves you and assures you that everything will be all right after all... I found I like classic frags from 20+ years ago. I have thrown out or given away so many lausy reformulations. Azzaro, paco raban PH,Zino, Z14,cerutti 1881,Lauder for men, many others. What is happening to perfume industry? Guerlain and Caron have good reformulations. What has YSL done since M7? Nothing. Not quite Serges Lutens in complexity, or Les Exclusitifs in refinement - but it has excellent sillage and longevity - with a delicate, warm, floral explosion of soft romanticism.
