Le flou d’arrière plan est plaisant et très doux dans la plupart des situations mais dans de rares cas il peut devenir nerveux quand l’arrière plan est lointain et fouilli Are you interested in trying a remote shoot? You should…it’s a great experience. I can recommend someone if you want. BTW sorry to hear your professional work is suffering because of omicron. I managed to get in a final cut from my stlist of 35 years, but obviously your clients can’t be masked for the kibd of effect they want! The 7 Artisans is not made to photography landscape wide-open (corners are weak at f0.95) but will give very good results at F5.6 over the entire frame . Some fringing can be observed with incident light wide open Corners are little bit lagging behind and you need to close down to F2.8 to start having good results

35mm f/0.95 APS-C lens for E/EOS-M/FX/M43/Z/EOS-R

Ever since I started publishing some images that I took with this new 7artisans 35mm f0.95 lens, the predominant question from a lot of people has been: “How does it compare to the Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 mk2?” They did start together though. There was a group of rich Chinese hobbyists that decided to get together and form a company to make lenses but there was a falling out between a few of the main guys and a split off. The original group became 7artisans and the splinter group TTartisan. It's not publicly known what the issues were but it is generally agreed that money wasn't one of them. Now, the f/0.95 on the APS-C will give you a depth of field close to that of an f/1.4 lens on a 35mm full frame camera. So handling this lens will not be any harder in terms of nailing focus than using said 1.4 lens. But it does have a huge advantage over the f/1.4 lenses… Good to hear you can still get work done with your models. funny story — there’s a hotel we’ve stayed at for years. Friends with all the staff, including a flamboyant woman in reception. Turns out she does theater burlesque — competitive, no less, and it has to be G-rated. With COVID shutting down all kinds of theater, I think I’ll suggest she use remote too, and set up the contests online. In addition to producing sharp images, there are other features that make the 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm f0.95 lens worth a look. Color and contrast are great. Flare wasn’t an issue for me under normal shooting conditions, so the fact that a lens hood was not included, is okay. There is some vignetting at wide open aperture but this is pretty much a given, and nothing out of the ordinary. The vignetting is actually kind of nice to be honest, and goes with the ultra thin depth of field look but if you’re not a fan, stopping down just one stop does reduce it significantly. Overall, this is a quality lens, in my opinion, and one that I think is comparable in terms of image quality to what is coming out from Fujifilm lenses. This is important, especially if you already own Fujifilm lenses, and want your images to match in terms of workflow. On the extremely rare occasions when I need the 35mm focal length on my Fuji X camera, I do one of the following: So, let’s start off with the ergonomics, and in this area, I feel this lens scores huge points. One of the downsides sometimes to a lens with a large maximum aperture is it can be bulky, and heavy but the 35mm f0.95 is actually compact and light. It’s around the size of the Fujifilm XF 35mm f1.4, so it’s definitely something that can be discreet for street shooting, for example. It also weighs just 369 g, so combine that with the size, it’s definitely something that will balance beautifully with a Fujifilm camera body. It’s not too light where it feels cheap but at the same time, it’s not too heavy where it’s just something you don’t want to carry along with you. The size and weight are just about right where you can leave it in your camera bag permanently or use all day long without feeling fatigue.

L’optique est délivrée dans un bel étui en cuir 2 Optical performances / Performances Optiques 2.1 Sharpness /Piqué A lot of my cheaper manuel focus aftermarket lenses are quite soft when shot wide open, but not this one.La qualité de construction du 7 Artisans 35mm F0.95 est excellente. L(objectif est APS-C mais couvre presque le plein format. L’optique est tout en métal , les chiffres sont gravés et non juste imprimés. According to their tests, and comparisons, I was reading . . . this lens is not so bright, to be a superior low light beast.

Thanks for all that. That is indeed pretty minimal difference and I've heard a lot of good things about the TT f1.2. I mostly wanted f0.95 to mess around with and see how many select focus shots I could get at greater distances (i.e. more medium format look). I'm not a portrait shooter, so it'd just be a specialty look fun lens. To me this trait isn’t necessarily the most important trait of a lens like the 7artisans 35mm f/0.95. I use these lenses for creative output, and I tend to use whatever shortcomings they might have to my advantage. But a lot of the flaws that you usually see in this type of lens is simply not present in the 7artisans 35mm f/0.95! This especially applies to sharpness. I already have a Pentax SMC M 50 f1.4 that's excellent, so I wasn't sure getting an f1.2 was really justified. But now seeing the pretty minimal difference to f0.95 I'm second guessing whether it's worth it. Pretty much any of the Chinese lenses can do the dreamy look wide open.

When shooting the 7artisans and Mitakon side-by-side the 7artisans exposure seem just a tad darker. It’s so minute that it could also just mean that there is added contrast in the lens. For me to match the exposures one-to-one I had to add 3% extra exposure in post-processing. So it is indeed very minute. Maybe the 7artisans is a T1.0 lens.

I’ve been a bit busy lately but wanted to at least post something up about the 7artisans 35mm f0.95. I will probably get a model shoot going to further test this lens, so stay tune for the full review, which should be coming out soon. I have to say, when you factor in the build, price, versatility, focal length, and of course, that f0.95 aperture, this lens is pretty impressive. Anyway, thanks for stopping by! The 7Artisans 35mm F0.95 build quality is excellent. The lens is made for APSC-C but almost cover the full frame sensor. The lens is all in metal , numbers are engraved and not just printed

I think I understand your point about corner sharpness for lenses like these— let’s see if I got this right. Say you’re using this wide open to get a portrait. Corner sharpness might even be a distraction from the effect you’re trying to get? I already own the Mitakon 35mm f0.95 mk2, which I absolutely adore. ( You can go read my review from a couple of years ago here.) So I was curious to see whether or not the 7artisans would hold up against one of my all-time favourite 35mm lenses for the Fujifilm X-series system
