About this deal

Shout-Out: The Ryokan Inn in Nishimeya is called The Sleeping Giant, a reference to the inn of the same name in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It serves the same Foreshadowing purpose. Cool Car: Mirio owns a red Mazda RX-8. Izuku notes his sempai has good taste in cars. Among Class A, Momo Yaoyorozu notably has an Aston Martin DB 11, Kyoka Jiro owns a Honda NSX NC 1 and Rikido Sato has a Ford Falcon GT-F. Tenya and Yuga are later revealed to own a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R and a and a Porsche 992 respectively. MY THOUGHTS: This is a steady-paced but extremely emotional family drama that had me in tears several times during the read. Amanda Prowse is very adept at that.

Poor Communication Kills: Everyone agrees that Nezu not telling Izuku right off the bat that his expulsion was temporary was one if not his biggest mistake. Nezu thinks the same. If you’ve ever been closely involved with a narcissist, you know that not only do they need to feel special, but the people around them need to be bigger than life also. Town Girls: Kishun, Eiko and Akari form one such trio. The flat-chested Tomboy Eiko is the butch. The gentle, dress-wearing Akari is the femme. The busty outdoors-girl Kishun is neither. Doubles as Beauty, Brains, and Brawn, with the feminine golden-haired Akari as the beauty, sheltered Archer Archetype Kishun as the brains and former Street Urchin Eiko as the brawn. When I started reading this, I did not think that I would love this book. It was such a beautiful and heartfelt story; I was so lost in Molly’s story that I did not even realize how the time flew and within a few hours I had finished reading it.

Battle in the Rain: The battle between Izuku, the Strays and Kagutsuchi occured under a downpour summoned by Hayate to counter the Flame Titan. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the choices I’ve made about my life and what has happened to get me to where I’m at right now. It seems that more and more people strive for a life that is anything but “ordinary” these days. We live in a society that is fueled more by an idealism we create through social media, where the lives we look in on are anything but ordinary. These take up so much of our energy that we forget our own visions and aspirations. Metronomic Man Mashing: during his beatdown of Endeavor, Izuku repeatedly flings him around the parking lot while punching him.

Their children must be uniquely talented. Their husband or wife should be smarter and more capable than anyone else. Their friends, the ones they’re willing to tolerate, are more daring, successful or fascinating than those ‘normal’ people he or she might be surrounded with. Words like practical and ordinary are used with disdain. Our Fairies Are Different: Bakugo's intern, Changeling, looks like a fairy, from her insect-like wings to her star-shaped pupils to her shiny pink hair and odd behavior. This is why she chose that particular alias. Will she be able to find peace—and finally understand that what seemed to be an ordinary life was anything but? Finally, on Izuku’s command, the girl decreased her senses one by one until they were on the lowest setting she could. Izuku smiled.

Actually Pretty Funny: Aizawa almost laughs when he sees the video of Chargebolt leaving the Lurkers' Agency. Heroic BSoD: Mentioning U.A. has strong chances of sending Izuku into one. Seeing Aizawa, All Might and Ochako for the first time after four years drove him to drinking and crying, and Mirio asking him to be his best man sent his brain in a loop, enough that Hayate joked it was rebooting. Confirming it would happen in U.A. made him nope out until Ochako convinced him to attend by bringing the kids along.

An Ordinary Life by Amanda Prowse | Goodreads

She cursed her inability to finish the note she had started, wishing nothing more than to place it in the hand of the boy who had shaped her whole life. She needed to tell him of her history. Her story, her ordinary life, and thus his story, the full truth he'd never known but that she'd promised, finally, to tell him. The truth that now he might never know.Shoot the Messenger: Slidin' Go is rightfully concerned that this may happen to him should he give his superiors the information he gathered on the Strays... information that clearly explains how several important plans have a snowball's chance in hell of happening. Who Would Be Stupid Enough?: To target someone the Parahuman Liberation Front is terrified of angering? Apparently, the Commission.
