There are several wonderful Osmo games, which we really recommend you take a look at. The latest set of games is Osmo Coding, whichare designed to teach coding to kids aged 5-12. Artie comes with 4 coloured pens, which are washable. (They washed off our coffee table easily, when Artie ran off the paper)! Assemble your robot and place the mechanical coding wheel into the heart of the robot to steer its coded courses and tasks. A real robot also offers some neat science lessons along the way. For example, Dash doesn’t actually turn his wheels, he just spins one faster than the other. Your child can set the speeds for each wheel individually, getting them to understand the physics behind this through play and experimentation. Space Rescuers (5+) teaches kids about the solar system, with the fun part helping to save the universe by clearing up space waste. The limiting factor for each of the steps was the Artie Max robots ability to turn and to maintain itself in space. I was able to expand the size of the arrow, was able to create a narrower arrow, but I was not able to create a crisp corner like the image. Despite the limitations, I truly enjoyed the experience with my kids and with the STEM activity.Robot Workshop (5+) is about designing robots (using cardboard tiles rather than metal pieces, cogs and wheels) for space missions. The learning part is understanding what is required to carry out the tasks at hand. The manual recommended opening the compartment, removing the pen caps, and then inserting the markers into the carousel. Next, the manual recommended obtaining standard 8 1/2” x 11” paper, avoiding glossed paper, considering taping the corners down, and then provided instructions to place Artie in the center of the paper for best results.
