Description

Do not take more than the recommended dose. You should also avoid taking more than one paracetamol-containing medicine at the same time, as this can easily result in exceeding the maximum dose of paracetamol.

Beechams Flu-Plus Caplets GSL - Summary of Product

Don't take Beechams cold and flu capsules if you have taken a type of medicine called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days. MAOIs include the antidepressants phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and moclobemide, and the anti-Parkinson's medicines selegiline, safinamide and rasagiline. This is because the combination of phenylephrine with these medicines could cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis). If you're taking medicines for high blood pressure you shouldn't take Beechams cold and flu capsules, because the decongestant may make your blood pressure medicine less effective. Liver damage is possible in adults who have taken 10g or more of paracetamol. Ingestion of 5g or more of paracetamol may lead to liver damage if the patient has risk factors (see below). Concomitant use of phenylephrine hydrochloride may cause an increased risk of ergotism (see Warnings and Precautions). There's some evidence that lozenges help with throat pain, but there's not a great deal of evidence to suggest you need a medicated lozenge.

All Products

The Beechams range includes Powders, Cold & Flu Hot Powder for oral solution range, Cold & Flu Capsules, Breathe Clear Hot Honey & Lemon Menthol Flavour Powder for Oral Solution, Flu Plus Hot Lemon, Flu Plus Caplets, All in One Tablets, All in One liquid, Max Strength All in One Capsules. For cold & flu relief. Always read the label. For the cheapest option, seek out own-brand or generic painkillers. Supermarkets and discount stores are often cheapest, and branded versions can cost nearly five times as much. Concomitant use of phenylephrine with other sympathomimetics amines can increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects (see warnings and precautions). If you're taking medicines for high blood pressure you shouldn't take Beechams flu plus hot drinks, because the decongestant may make your blood pressure medicine less effective.

Beechams Flu Plus Caplets

Alcohol increases the risk of liver damage that can occur if an overdose of paracetamol is taken. The hazards of paracetamol overdose are greater in persistant heavy drinkers and in people with alcoholic liver disease.

Caffeine is a mild stimulant that helps reduce fatigue. Caffeine is also thought to enhance the painkilling effect of paracetamol. It's fine to take Beechams all in one with plain ibuprofen or aspirin (assuming these are appropriate for you). However, don't take it with co-codamol, co-dydramol or Tramacet because these contain paracetamol.
