Description

BenQ is a multinational electronics company based in Taipei. It began in 1984 and began marketing using the BenQ brand in 2001. Along with mobile devices, business and industrial displays, monitors, lamps, and the Zowie Gear line of gaming peripherals, BenQ offers top-rated projectors, including LCD projectors and DLP-based laser short-throw projectors, and dedicated gaming projectors. Thanks for providing this TK800M Review, as a Christmas present to the family, I’ve been setting up a cinema room in one of the “outhouses” on the property. Is there a particular range of wall size/ projecting screen that this works best with? The wall size that I’m thinking is approximately 22ft by 37ft Reply Pro 2) Outstanding Color Accuracy: BenQ projectors consistently win high marks for color accuracy. Their 1DLP models use a light processing engine with 30-bit color, allowing for full DCI-P3 Color Space and over 95% color uniformity. away from the screen or wall, the image will get bigger, and as you push the projector closer to the screen or wall the image will be smaller. To properly

It’s a product designed for a market that probably doesn’t really fit with your typical AVForums home cinema fan, but it does a decent enough job of what it sets out to do and at a reasonable price point. If we had tested the BenQ as solely a home cinema model for critical movie viewing it wouldn’t score well at all, given that niche set of image quality points it would need to hit, but this isn’t one of those projectors and doesn’t pretend to be.The BenQ TK850 3000-lumen projector produces UHD pictures at resolutions of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels. This projector supports HDR10, providing incredibly bright, colorful content. The device has a dynamic Iris and enhanced contrast, making it a good choice for home theaters. This device is factory calibrated and covers the DCI-P3 space quite well. With a dedicated Sport mode, this projector is suitable for watching sports. However, this projector produces above-average fan noise. BenQ digital projectors come with a 3-year warranty in the US and Canada. The limited warranty on a new projector covers hardware and assembly defects, extending to all major components except the projector lamps. LED lamps and Laser projector light sources come with their own warranties, which differ depending on the product. Conventional lamps get a 2,000-hour warranty, for example. Let’s see now how the unit fares in the input lag tests. Our measurements showed an input lag of 43.2ms which is very good for gaming but not exceptional. For any kind of casual gaming it will be more than enough but if you take your gaming sessions very seriously then there are other projectors that offer better input lag for such occasions.

Testing was done with a Photo Research PR-650 spectroradiometer, a Konica Minolta LS-100 luminance meter, and CalMAN 2018 calibration software. HDR patterns were from Diversified Video Solutions’ UltraHD/HDR-10 Test Pattern Suite. SDR patterns were from a VideoForge Classic generator. I used my 100-inch Stewart GrayHawk 0.9-gain screen. When testing, a numerical DeltaE value is used to indicate how close to perfect a measurement is. A DeltaE of 1.0 or below is considered perfect as any difference from reference is indistinguishable. 3.0 or lower is excellent and it is hard to see a discrepancy without scrutiny, while above that value any variations become more perceptible. The Cinema picture mode was used for all testing as it had the most accurate grayscale and color. Next comes Vivid TV with 2753 lumens that BenQ suggest to use in rooms with some amount of ambient light while Cinema offers the lower brightness of the three with 2617 measured lumens and is mostly recommended for completely dark rooms or areas with very little light. There isn’t any lens shift on the TK800M (to compensate for projector placement being off-center), so be sure your ceiling mount is properly aligned. If you need to angle the projector slight up (or down) at the screen the BenQ has keystone correction but, as with any projector, only use it as a last resort. It can add artifacts in to the image. HDR content looks considerably better compared to SDR on the BenQ TK800M which is its primary purpose. Color accuracy sports visible improvements, lowering the average Delta E to a more acceptable 3.7 compared to around 4.8 in SDR. Contrast also gets a nice bump since HDR mode gets to utilize the high brightness threshold of the lamp in this projector.TK800M’s lightweight design and sleek, compact profile accentuates beautiful aesthetics as well as intuitive functionality and eco-friendly design. A chic addition to your living room décor with easy setup, TK800M makes your home entertainment simple and comfortable for friends and family to enjoy parties, sports, movies. The BenQ TK800M is considerably brighter than its closest competitors, so it has the advantage when it comes to shades and shadows. It’s even bright enough for outdoor use, although we still recommend indoors with closed doors and curtains to enjoy its full capabilities. Con 3) Smart Projector Setup Can Be Confusing: While BenQ has some very capable smart projector models, some users may have trouble connecting them to their favorite streaming apps. On the plus side, native projector support for Android TV is included in their larger projectors. Why Should You Buy a New BenQ Projector?

Other projector components that may require upkeep or replacement include air filter assemblies for air-cooled projectors, lens motors for models with automatic zoom and lens shift, and Wi-Fi dongles for models that use external wireless modules. Over time, cheaper projectors may experience more color aberration as the light source dims with age. To maintain a bright image and lifelike, vivid color, make sure to keep up with the maintenance of your projector. It also helps to store the unit someplace relatively cool and free of dust. Letting the projector cool off between uses can sometimes prolong the life of the lamp and optics assembly. BenQ Projector Warranties The BenQ TH585 3500-lumen projector is a 1080p device for use in settings ranging from classrooms to home theaters. With a low 16ms input lag and super-fast response time, this projector will please gaming enthusiasts. It has a short throw distance, projecting 100-inch images just a couple of feet away. The device has a built-in 10-watt speaker for sound output. However, the sound volume on this device is low even after connecting external speakers. On budget projectors, the lamp will usually require replacement before other components have worn out. Typical lamp life ranges from 1,500 hours to 4,000 hours when using eco mode. Setting a projector to maximum brightness may reduce the lifetime of the lamp. BenQ market the TK800 projector as a home entertainment and sports model and not a home cinema machine. This means that it is designed to work at its best in normal living rooms with light coloured walls and ceilings and some ambient light. Or you could even use it outdoors shining on to a white sheet or the side of your house for a World Cup party. It is supposed to create an image ‘good enough’ to enjoy big screen sporting events, or gaming with your friends and is not a critical home cinema viewing device for movie viewing in a bat cave dedicated theatre.

It doesn’t set itself out to be a home cinema projector or one that movie fans could use day in day out, it just doesn’t offer a decent enough performance to fulfil those users goals, and there are better machines out there for that. No, it has simple goals that won’t please the fussy videophile and it couldn’t care less about that in all seriousness. Arabic/ Bulgarian/ Croatian/ Czech/ Danish/ Dutch/ English/ Finnish/ French/ German/ Greek/ Hindi/ Hungarian/ Italian/ Indonesian/ Japanese/ Korean/ Norwegian/ Polish/ Portuguese/ Romanian/ Russian/ Simplified Chinese/ Spanish/ Swedish/ Turkish/ Thai/ Traditional Chinese (28 Languages) Overall the BenQ does what it sets out to do and that is to be a party centre-piece for BBQ’s in the garden while watching the World Cup or 4K premiership football via Sky or BT. It is designed to be used and then put away, projected against a white wall or bed sheet.

Suitable for projectors with hanging holes within a size of 11.8in (L) x 9.8in (W). Adjustable Length 1.3 ft (116mm) ~ 1.9 ft (578 mm); spaced every 0.738ft (22.5mm)

What is the BenQ TK800?

But the TK800M does not only offers improved HDR performance but also functionality. While the TK800 only supported HDR10 the new model also comes with HLG support that is used mostly for live broadcasting. Obviously no Dolby Vision or HDR10+ to be found but we were not expecting to find any of these two. Full HD / SDR / 3D Content The BenQ DGD5 3D Glasses create an immersive 3D viewing experience with BenQ's DLP Link-enabled projectors. The glasses have an estimated 30 hour continuous run time between recharging. * may be worn over most prescription eyeglasses * compatible with all BenQ DLP-link 3D projectors. Contrast Ratio represents the diagonal distance between the top right corner of your image (screen) and the bottom left corner of your image (screen). On The TK800 has an optical system designed for 4K resolution, which means it uses high-grade glass for superior image quality. A precision seven-element, four-group lens array allows for greater light penetration at higher resolutions, and a low-dispersion lens coating minimizes chromatic aberrations and allows for improved clarity. Or if you’re looking to host a movie night outdoors, you may want to consider one of BenQ’s portable smart projector models, such as the 1080p HD resolution BenQ GV series. This Bluetooth projector has IPX dust and splash resistance and comes with built-in speakers that provide surprisingly powerful audio output.
