About this deal

At her head is the village of Les Salants, while the village of La Houssinière—the flourishing rival—lies at her feet. Mankind however now dreams of the Norse Gods. With the river Dream quite close to their dark prison, Loki is the first to escape into a new reality. Her writing style focuses on the senses, especially those of taste and smell. This may be due to the fact that Harris has a form of synaesthesia, in which she experiences colours as scents. Viskas prasideda nuo to, kai rūsyje atsiranda šeši seno vyno buteliai, ranka užrašytomis etiketėmis – Ypatingieji. In Five Quarters of the Orange, this bold female character is Mirabelle Dartigen, the mother of present-day narrator Framboise Simon.

Blackberry Wine | Joanne Harris

Joanne Harris’s Chocolat Trilogy has been a mouthwatering fascination for readers since it was first published, by and large due to its image provoking descriptions of chocolate. Harris was born in Barnsley, Yorkshire, to an English father and a French mother. Both of her parents were teachers of modern languages and literature at a local grammar school. Her first language was French, which caused divisions between her English family, where nobody spoke French, and her French family, where nobody spoke English. Both families had turbulent histories and a tradition of strong women, kitchen gardening, storytelling, folklore and cookery. [ citation needed]. I’m a huge Harris fan, but somehow this is the first of her novels I’ve read with a main male protagonist. I don’t typically gravitate to these types of books.
