About this deal

There were portions of the run where I was able to go faster than easy pace and at the end of the run, my average pace was about 30 seconds faster per kilometre than my normal easy run pace. I enjoyed it most on steady-paced runs, slightly faster than easy pace, between 4.50 and 5.30 minutes per kilometre. I think the midsole foam that Brooks uses in the Ghost 13 still lags behind in responsiveness compared to the explosive forefoot of the Pegasus 37 with its Zoom Air unit or the Ride 13 with its bouncy TPU-EVA blend Pwrrun midsole. I love the fit and shape of the Ghost. The toe box is perfectly roomy while the midfoot and heel offer a secure, dialed-in fit,” says one reviewer. “The extra eyelets add adjustability, and the shoe has an overall cozy feel.”

Caterpillar Crash Pad is a segmented crash pad that flexes with the foot, offering customized cushioning and stability for a smooth heel-to-toe transition. DNA Loft is the newer of the two midsole foams in the Ghost 13 but it feels very similar to BioMogo. I hope that Brooks transitions to their new DNA Flash foam which is lighter and much more responsive.

Delivery timescales are esimates in working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. The tongue is still not gusseted so it slides laterally. The premium tongue gusset is only featured on the top of the range Glycerin. It’s one of the best shoes I’ve tested for long runs because of its excellent stability, high level of cushioning and its comfortable upper. You’re searching for light and fast shoe. In this case, the Nike Zoom Fly 3 and the New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v10 are among the most expert-recommended alternatives. It’s neither too soft nor too firm, its upper is comfortable no matter what foot type you have and it has a remarkably stable ride for a neutral shoe.

The 12mm heel-to-toe offset of the Ghost is more than the other daily trainers and is the perfect shoe for beginner runners who tend to strike on their rearfoot.

Brooks Ghost 13 Conclusion

OUR VERDICT The Ghost 14 is far from an exciting daily trainer but it's a dependable workhorse that has the perfect balance of long-distance cushioning and ride stability. It excels on long-distances and steady-paced runs.

The Brooks Ghost is probably the blandest running shoe in existence. If the Ghost was a pizza, it would be a Margherita. Watch my full Brooks Ghost 13 review below or read on to learn more about the Ghost 13 and how it performs on the run, what I like best about it and who it’s best for: Brooks Ghost 13 Review: Run Test Review The rest of the upper is what you come to expect from a Brooks Ghost. It has generous amounts of foam in its tongue, collar and heel. My first run was on a cold winter morning and I could feel the icy wind on my feet so it’s definitely airy and breathable. In fact the two versions are so similar that when I did an A/B test run with one version on each foot at the same time, I really had to concentrate to notice a difference in ride. While this may seem like a big update on paper, the ride experience is strikingly similar to the Ghost 13. Out of the big five daily trainers which consists of the Pegasus, Cumulus, Ghost, Ride and 880, the Ghost 13 was the last to be released in 2020. I like the Ghost 13 most for easy-paced runs between 10 and 25 kilometres but its midsole is not overly soft so it can handle the occasional tempo outing although its substantial weight might be a problem. I hate the feeling of wearing clown shoes so I had to exchange them for a half size smaller. Overall the fit is much more roomy than previous versions of the Ghost. The Brooks Ghost is a longtime favorite of runners of all abilities, and the updated Brooks Ghost 14 is no exception.
