About this deal

Everyone’s gait is slightly different, but there are four main types of running styles and pronation: If you’re looking for a super soft, super-bouncy ride similar to the ZoomX Invincible, you won’t find it in the Glycerin 19.

These are ultra soft – I don’t find these the fastest Brooks shoes. Not ideal for every run, especially not speed workouts or your 5K PB attempt. The midsoles of the Ghost and the Glycerin are single-density. The Ghost has DNA Loft v2 while the Glycerin has DNA Loft v3 so the Glycerin rides softer than the Ghost.OUR VERDICT The Brooks Glycerin 19 is a medium-soft, max-cushioned trainer with a superb, comfortable, plush upper that’s best suited to easy-paced runs.

The origin of that softness is Brooks’s DNA Loft midsole, which was increased in the Glycerin 18, making for an even cushier feel without losing any of that propulsive energy return. The shoe provides all-around comfort in a seamless upper, and a structured, secure fit with a stretchy 3D Fit Print saddle. Our testers praised the shoe’s flexibility. The Glycerin may be sleek, but it is certainly heavy-duty. All the materials in the shoe are very high quality and durable. The midsole is made of DNA Loft, a soft midsole compound that mixes rubber, EVA foam, and air to deliver a comfy underfoot feel.

Conclusion

The Brooks Glycerins are one of the most well known running shoes on the market. Most anyone who is into running will know the shoe. Pretty much, if you have ever run in Glycerins, they won’t blow your mind with new technology, but you’ll love them. If you’re in the market for a high cushion neutral trainer, you’ll probably love them as well. There’s nothing wrong with being a firm, max-cushioned shoe. Some runners prefer firmer shoes because they are more stable and more responsive but the problem is that the advertising for the Glycerin is misleading. This shoe will outlast most other running shoes while staying in good condition. Brooks has a warranty for 300-500 miles and will replace them for free if they don’t last that long, but I’m sure anyone can easily double that figure. With sustainability in mind I can confidently say that the Glycerin 19 is an improvement over the 18. The softer midsole is a move in the right direction and the ride transitions are smoother. These changes also don’t come at an increase in weight which is a bonus.
