Unlike the Plant book, many of the jokes fell flat for me. And while I'm aware that some people let their cats roam outside, I've always held the stance that it's irresponsible at best and cruel at worst. This book promotes outdoor living and I can't get behind that. Mezzaluna briefly describes his love with Anne-Marie as, “For though the love we felt ran deep, I had made other vows to keep, which made our love a grievous wrong.” Their relationship felt almost forbidden. This was such a delightful, magical, sad, but heartwarming story - all told in the form of a poem! The only thing that would have made it a little better would be a few drawings or pictures. That seemed to be missing for me. Other than that, this poem/story was pure joy! Mia has made all the right choices. She’s married, she has the nice house, the good career. But life isn’t about fitting into a box. And there’s another woman inside her who’s just clawing to get out . . . I don't read huge amounts of poetry these days but if I do I like it to really be memorable and special. Cat Lady most certainly was. For starters how could I not read a book with this title? But apart from that I was really glad that I did.
