In the other books I'd read, Cathy's own children were a lot younger and it was nice to read about them as adults and be updated on their lives. I have always enjoyed reading Cathy Glass’s books! This is still a great publication helping to understand children, their issues and how to deal with them. Can’t wait for the next book! When in junior high and high school (I reside in Ontario, Canada), my mom was also a foster parent to a very abused brother and sister. I can still recall some of the trauma they endured at the hands of their parents, which was quite bad to say the least. Find the hottest teen books, connect with your favorite YA authors and meet new friends who share your reading interests! I loved your books just finished “A terrible Secret” just wondering what book comes after that one Please need to know what happens with Tilly Reply

Foster carers rarely get the praise they deserve, but Cathy Glass's book should change all that.****' Tilly, aged 14, is very angry with her parents. Her step-father, Dave, abuses her mother, but she won’t leave him. Unable to cope with their fighting any longer and fearing for her own safety Tilly puts herself into foster care. She arrives at experienced foster carer, Cathy’s home with a cut on her face from getting in the way of another fight.Excellent as usual from this author. I have great admiration for this author having worked with young people and while I know there are people who believe that they are the stories from the children she cares for, I also believe they are hers too. She has taken a long road from when her own children were small and she and her husband began on the road of fostering. She las learned so much through these years and I believe a lot of parents/ carers could and do learn a lot from reading her books. The names of those involved are changed and the development of the family joins the lessons learned from fostering, by all of the family. Adrian, Lucy and Paula are all young adults now. Adrian went away to study at university and then returned home. Lucy and Paula went to local colleges and university.

ive just finished reading Family torn apart. what a wonderful story about Angie & Polly being taken from theiŕ home by police and taken to Cathy because of allegations made about their father by their older sister.i am now going to read NEGLECTED my last one. I await more stories to read by Cathy Glass a wonderfull authur, mother, carer Reply Love reading cathy glass books, just wondering what comes after reading neglected with jamie ?? Thanks Reply Frightened for her own safety, Tilly asks to go into foster care and is placed with Cathy. Tilly arrives with a graze on her cheek and Cathy becomes increasingly concerned by Dave’s behaviour, especially when she learns he has been showering Tilly with gifts. While she’s busy looking after Tilly and trying to keep her safe, Cathy is also worried about her own daughter, Lucy. She has a very difficult decision to make that will affect the rest of her life, and Cathy hopes she makes the right choice. This eleventh memoir and latest title from the internationally bestselling author and foster carer Cathy Glass can either be read as a full eBook or in 3 serialised eBook-only parts. Will You Love Me tells the true story of Cathy’s adopted daughter Lucy.I read A Terrible Secret in two sittings. Couldn’t put it down. Well done, another very emotional and gripping read…" Following the success of Damaged, you might imagine that a brand new author would have a bit of a cooling off period. This was not to be the case with Cathy Glass. Her next book, “Hidden” was published in 2008, and it was a success in its own right. This book had another memorable character at the center of it, only this child was a far cry different from the explosive Jodie character that Glass had written about in her first book. In the book Hidden, Tayo is the child that is described as being a polite, calm and mild-mannered child that was well spoken. But while he displayed excellent manners and was very well behaved, Tao was hiding a terrible past that no child should have had to live through.

Will You Love Me? by Cathy Glass | Waterstones

It's always a very grounding experience to read CG's sensible approach to the difficulties that life throws at everyone (those permanently in her life as well as those she cares for temporarily). She has strong morals which she is unafraid to share but always considers the sensitivities of others around her. Whilst she is clear about her views she would never hurt anyone by speaking inappropriately. That doesn't stop her being clear and straightforward. Lucy was born to a single mother who had been abused and neglected for most of her own childhood. Right from the beginning Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope, but it wasn’t until Lucy reached eight years old that she was finally taken into permanent foster care. Cathy's books always give a great insight into fostering and everything involved that most people aren't aware of. However sometimes she does state things unnecessarily, because everyone already knows, such as the fact that pregnant women urgently need the toilet... There was also a lot of bitter comments about her ex John in this one, but that's not really a bad thing #drama I have three children, two birth children and one adopted child. When I left school I held a clerical position in the civil service, which I left to start a family. At the same time I became a foster carer, the inspiration for much of my writing. I have been a foster carer for over 25 years. I have a degree in education and psychology which I was awarded as a mature student. My true-life stories show the suffering and courage of some of the most vulnerable children in our society and have world-wide appeal. My books are also used by trainers and practitioners, working in childcare and child protection. This is the story of my adopted daughter, Lucy, who came to me as a foster child and stayed for good. Her work is strongly identified with both the True Life Stories and Inspirational Memoirs genres, and she has also written a parenting guide to bringing up children, Happy Kids, and a novel, The Girl in the Mirror, based on a true story. Wonderfully written, not only a great author but clearly such a caring person. I think about fostering. Cathy doesn’t sugar-coat it and shows how hard and frustrating it can be…" Not only is “Cathy Glass” a pseudonym, but so are the designated names of the children that she writes about. This is perfectly understandable, considering the delicate nature of the material that Glass covers. Readers who typically enjoy Cathy Glass books are individuals who are partial to genres that are inspirational memoirs or true life stories. Glass started writing in her spare time, when she wasn’t busy caring for her family, including her various foster children.
