About this deal

Features heady spice top notes of Cardamom and Mate Tea, a warm heart of saffron and suede, and the velvety dry down of musk Eau de Couture is as big and bold in its appeal as Cher, the legendary performer and music icon that inspired this perfume for this review. This spicy oriental fragrance created by perfumer, Clement Gavarry launched in 2019 is one that captures all sides of this dynamic and timeless star in this second Cher perfume with Eau de Couture. I can't say exactly why it took four years," Cher tells me over the phone. "Nothing ever took me four years. I just knew when I had it. A few times, I thought I had it, but a few days later, I changed my mind. It was kind of like, you know it when you see it."

Have never seen this one in the shops but I really admire Cher. Great actress & singer, independent and feisty. Yeah, Cher always seems to be the underdog. I don’t know HOW she manages to do that seeing she has been successful the whole way along in so many different areas. I was inspired by movie stars and by freedom. There's so many things happening around you—and they inspire you. I used to watch old movies in the afternoon with my mother. Audrey Hepburn, and both Hepburn girls, Katharine. All the old movie stars, like Lana Turner. Hedy Lamarr! Oh, my god, I was so crazy about her. For me, she was the deep, dark, seductive—she was the bad-girl perfume. You know, there was, like, the good-girl perfume and the bad-girl perfume. I always kind of gravitated to the bad-girl perfume. The ’60s is a mix of Chypre Flora with notes of Bergamot, Rose Damascena, and Patchouli, representing the nostalgia, peace, and love era. There's a way women can be powerful, and it's not breaking down the walls. We've got these chips in the wall, and at some point, men are going to move over, and we will be able to take care of things that they've screwed up. At some point, that's going to happen, and it's already happening in many ways in many cities. The lukewarm reception of Cher's first scent had little to do with the scent itself and more to do with the fact that people didn't really seem to get it. Celebrities weren't attaching their names to products quite yet, and it was even before endorsements became commonplace. People were still shopping at department store counters and looking for luxury in the places they'd always found it. Consumers didn't yet know how to contextualize a celebrity scent. Hey Portia! Looks like Eau de Couture is a must-try: anything from the Chanel 22 gene pool is. I trust your opinion and boy, do I admire Cher!

It is a powerhouse compared to so much of the modern releases and has extraordinary tenaciousness. Eau de Couture is a glam party scent, it gets noticed and is as sparkly and diva like as you can imagine. A perfect resemblance to Cher. Capturing and bottling the scent of one entire decade—let alone four—is a seemingly impossible task. But Cher? Cher can do anything. The icon's latest perfume collection, Decades, is out now and features four distinct scents that capture the aura of the '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s from her unique perspective. "I think the thing that's the coolest is that I was famous and in all of them," she tells BAZAAR.com. She designed each one in partnership with Scent Beauty to evoke a feeling of those years: a warm floral for the free-love era, an amber woody scent for her disco days, a floral and fruity essence for the punky '80s, and an airy floral to channel '90s pop escapism.Hey Posse! Cher! One of the queens of style. An icon who has managed to stay relevant and popular through highs, lows and a fair smattering of mediocrity. Her original 1987 fragrance Uninhibited was a direct CHANEL No 5 descendant, all fizzy aldehydes and fruity space flowers over woodsy vanilla. One of my besties is a complete Cher aficionado who follows her concerts around the world and I found him a small bottle of it in the early 2010s, he has loved and cherished it. So, weirdly, in 2019 she decided that the world needed a new Cher fragrance, enter Eau de Couture. I wanted a heavy scent," Cher explains. "Not that I wanted people to run out of the elevator, but I wanted to be sure it lasted beyond the first spray." The ‘90s with a floral scent and notes of peach nectar, heliotrope, and sandalwood, representing grunge and pop escapism. We are thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with the iconic Cher. Following the launch of Cher Eau de Couture, we wanted to provide her fans with a complete fragrance wardrobe that embodies her star-power throughout the decades. The Decades Collection takes consumers on an olfactive journey embodying Cher’s famous personas from the 60’s through the 90’s,” said Steve Mormoris, founder and CEO of Scent Beauty.
