But as no components are destroyed or altered, the game is perfectly replayable by a different group. I know our copy has been making the rounds of our friend group already. During the investigation, players will also discover new locations, and place the location display board in play. They can then scan the location QR code to travel to that destination, and talk to the characters there. Discovered characters are placed on locations, and undiscovered characters are placed on a central clue board until they’re found. Characters, like items and locations, are scanned when you want to interact with them. They can then be questions about other characters and items you have discovered. In Chronicles of Crime 1400 players start off with a blank board, and populate it, along with the location boards as they investigate.Category Board Games Tags Chronicles of Crime, Companion App, Dice Tower, Zatu Gold Award SKU ZBG-LKYCCM-R01-EN Availability

Loading up the app for the first time takes you into a simple tutorial case, but don’t be fooled; subsequent cases up the ante and subtlety significantly. Cases will involve you being called to a scene which you can generally examine using the app. This can be done with the separate VR Module attached to your phone, or just through the phone's display. If you are playing with friends you will be frantically be shouting out all the things you see as they rifle through the clue cards to find something that might relate. This game says it is only for four players but if you want to scale up the game for more players you can easily do it. It also is a very spectator-friendly game.If you’re only interested in receiving the newest games this is the box for you; guaranteeing only the latest games! Buy New Releases Box » The app adds dimensions to the game. It allows characters to behave realistically and have their own lives within the world. On a mechanical level, it also makes Chronicles of Crime effortless to play. The scanning works perfectly, and next steps are clearly indicated. I also liked how the case deadline helped me focus my investigations and be economical about where to go and what to do there. includes one tutorial case and four full-length cases of difficulties from Easy to Hard. They usually take 1-2 hours to complete, meaning that the game has about 6.5 hours of gameplay in it from start to finish. When you think you have all the pieces of information necessary to solve the case, you press “Solve the Case” in the app and answer a series of questions. By the end, the app tells you if you were correct or not, and gives you a written summary of the full course of events. Play Experience Final Score: 3.5 Stars – A good app integrated game with some intriguing stories that leans a bit too much on the app for my taste. With two, you can easily discuss and share the app and clues. You each have a role, a job, a purpose. With three? You can put heads together whilst someone interrogates the innocent and scans every code available. It’ll be a good balance of thoughts and approaches, with enough hands and heads to work out the nitty-gritty of the many details of the cases. Four is the maximum I’d suggest for this game. It works well, but everyone needs to know the basics of the game to avoid clashes of ideas. More people will just break the game apart and it’ll become a convoluted mess or develop overly complicated ideas and not enough apps to go around. For us, two works perfectly and it’s a superb amount of fun.

The way the narratives and the investigation mechanics merge together is very satisfying, and the pacing of each case is generally good. In Chronicles of Crime 1400, players take on the role of Abelard Lavel, a knight with visionary powers in medieval Paris. Each mission starts with Abelard having a vision and players drawing specific vision cards to illustrate the dream. These cards aren’t used in the game but can give clues to help solve the crime.

is a standalone entry in the series that adds in prophetic dreams that you as the main character has, leading you too clues and lines of enquiry. Replacing your high tech modern team of advisors is your well connect family and trusty hound. Your dog can find people through smell! It works wonderfully well and adds to this already excellent series. While there is a lot of scanning and reading of the app, the player interaction is critical. You want to be discussing where to go investigate next, whether a witness was trustworthy, the primary suspect and what that weird clue means. Having the key players and clues of the mystery laid out in front of you helps to piece the puzzle together immensely. You may not have the strings connecting the pins of the photographs, but you have the second-best visual after that.Using the same set of physical components (a board and cards representing locations, characters, and items), the Chronicles of Crime app lets you and your friends step into a world of mystery and play out your investigations. We also pass the phone around and take turns reading. There are fun events that can happen while reading the text on the phone that really scared our group (for example: A phone suddenly ringing). It's just written words and there is no sound effect but our reader freaked out and said "Oh my God the phone's ringing!" - which sent everyone into a panic. This is what happens when you get a really good set of friends together willing to immerse themselves into the story. The time mechanic is reinforced with the entire game being a living world. Characters move around, they might not open the door to see you at night and there’s pressure to solve a case in a certain amount of time. They also react to certain clues. If a character asks you to keep something a secret, and you scan that item with another character, you can get a negative reaction next time you speak to them. In Chronicles of Crime (London Forensic), players will have five unique story-driven cases to solve plus a full tutorial to introduce you to the game. Each scenario is written by experienced authors to give you the most immersive experience while you solve both individual and series of connecting criminal cases!
