Another sweltering month in Charlotte, another boatload of mysteries past and present for overworked, overstressed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. Domhnall Gleeson is an Irish actor and writer. He is best known for his portrayal of Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter film franchise (2010-2011), About Time (2013), Ex Machina (2015) and The Revenant (2015).

Deception Point - Penguin Books UK

The NSA is being held hostage... not by guns or bombs, but by a code so ingeniously complex that if released it would cripple U.S. intelligence. Caught in an accelerating tempest of secrecy and lies, Susan Fletcher battles to save the agency she believes in. Betrayed on all sides, she finds herself fighting not only for her country but for her life, and in the end, for the life of the man she loves. After reading this book, I did a little snooping of my own (OK, those were big words too, I just used Google) and realised that most of the technology, computers and cool machinery did not exist. In fact, Goodreads was an excellent source of information of unhappy reviewers tearing down this book's credibility. Gee, I was really hoping that those stuff were as cool as mentioned in Digital Fortress. Wild Symphony is now available! #1 New York Times bestselling author Dan Brown makes his picture book debut with this mindful, humorous, musical, and uniquely entertaining book! Includes a free app and music composed by the author. Another fast-paced thriller dealing with the NASA from Dan Brown. I found this novel to be right on par with Digital Fortress and thought that it was a very well-written thriller. From start to finish Deception Point takes the ball and runs with it like any other Dan Brown thriller. I like that the plot moves around in scenery from the Arctic to Washington, DC and a few points in-between keeping the action flowing and the characters moving around instead of being static in one place.

This is the second book I have read from Dan Brown. I read The Da Vinci Code first. And, whoever read The Da Vinci Code would think this book does not measure up to the other book's penmanship. I wouldn't say I liked this book as much as the Langdon series. But it is still a good one-time read.

Caught in an accelerating tempest of secrecy and lies, Susan Fletcher battles to save the agency she believes in. Betrayed on all sides, she finds herself fighting not only for her country but for her life, and in the end, for the life of the man she loves. This is vintage Dan Brown before his The Da Vinci Code fame. A president on the precipice of losing re-election is about to make a stupendous announcement that may save his presidency and the fate of NASA. Beneath hundreds of feet of ice in the Arctic, a satellite discovers a meteorite. This one is not your typical iron-core, space remnant. This one has… and here, I won’t spoil the surprise. From our morning news briefing to a weekly Good News Newsletter, get the best of The Week delivered directly to your inbox. Oh Dan Brown, how I love to hate you. It seems a universal truth that when you have run out of all of the books to read that you’ve brought with you, it is impossible to find decent reading material wherever you are. Producing the film, God, Science, and Our Search for Meaning, has been an exciting and incredibly meaningful experience for many of us on the team at the Charles Hayden Planetarium. It gives audiences an opportunity to reflect on the natural awe and wonder of looking up at the cosmos, just as so many before us have done”, said Dani LeBlanc, director of immersive theaters at the Museum of Science. “I’m hopeful that the themes and questions we touch upon on in this film will resonate with audiences the world over.”When a new NASA satellite detects evidence of an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory…a victory that has profound implications for U.S. space policy and the impending presidential election. The book is quite informative with all research well done. The story line is thrilling. The female protagonist, Rachel Sexton was well portrayed to make her so believable. She is a woman with a strong mind yet she has her own fears which show that she is real, almost human. Her hatred towards her father given his history of infidelity which indirectly caused her mother’s death is almost natural. The male protagonist too has been given equal strength in the book which I found quite refreshing. I am always amazed by Mr. Brown’s ability to develop the characters so well that you feel they are so real and close to your heart. The book also subtly touches on political maneuverings to hold power/ to get in to power which is all too common anywhere in the world. The U.S. premiere of the stage adaptation of The Da Vinci Code arrives on August 26th, 2023 at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine. Said Dan Brown, "They’ve presented and accentuated the heartbeat of the story without losing the themes of codes and the sacred feminine and Christianity and art. It’s a very high-tech production that will startle people in a wonderful way, especially if they haven’t been to the theater in a while."

Although she had practically lived in Crypto since its completion three years ago, the sight of it still amazed her. The main room..." - Digital Fortress Having that said, I can't say that Brown's writing style is my favourite. His books usually start off well, but kind of go downhill somewhat at the end. His plot developments are not the best I've come across, although how he comes up with them in the bloody first place is unthinkable. But I must say, there is a significant similarity between the plots in most, if not all, of his books. It doesn't take a cryptologist to figure it out. Now before this I've only read 3 of his books (OK that may be quite a lot already) and my recent awareness of such similarity has indeed taken out most surprises within Brown's novels. Both books revolve around conspiracies within the Catholic Church, but most of the action in Angels and Demons takes place in Rome and the Vatican. This thriller - later auctioned into a multi-million-dollar Hollywood film treatment - focuses on Robert Langdon, a Harvard University professor of symbology, who is in Paris on a speaking engagement when he is woken in the middle of the night by the French police and implicated in the murder of the Louvre Museum curator. Brown is among the most intelligent and dynamic of authors in the thriller genre. In this dazzling high-tech adventure, he has skillfully blended his own wit and style with the rip-roaring adventure of Cussler and the modern technology of Clancy. Highly recommended. It is the answer to this question that is one of the weaknesses of the novel, because whichever way the conspiracy runs, there are no winners. The story does not deliver the satisfaction of seeing the good guys win and the world surviving to be a better place. Instead the fallout will be considerable. This alone would not necessarily make Deception Point a bad novel if the way the plot unravels is a part of the authors attempt to tell us something about corruption, mass deception, political machinations, accountability, integrity versus the greater good, the public versus private selves, etc. But it is not that kind of novel. Like any trashy pop-fiction, Deception Point is mostly about the plot. Powerful, arresting themes are non-existent and the characters are barely outlines; neither interesting, or relatable, and sometimes even cliché. Again, this is not necessarily a bad thing for this type of novel, but without a satisfactory outcome it leaves little to enjoy.
