About this deal

Several months have passed since the tragic events of DEADENDIA, VOLUME 1: THE WATCHER'S TEST. Norma and Badyah have rebuilt Dead End, bigger and better than ever: by day, it's a haunted house in Phoenix Park; at night, they transform it into a hotel for angels and demons visiting the supposedly "neutral" plane 7. The duo has little trouble booking to capacity, thanks to a little help from ambassador Courtney and the friendly angel Fingers. Deadendia is a comic about the employees of a theme park, particularly two people who work in a haunted house. It’s sort of Nimona-esque in its brilliant execution, going from laugh out loud funny to honestly heart wrenching from plot point to plot point. a b Steele, Hamish (17 January 2023). As with the first Deadendia, The Broken Halo has a slow, stumbling start that leads to a thrilling conclusion. Norma must come to terms with the fact that she's part-ghost. Barney must find something to do so he's not such a layabout - demon wrestling being the natural option. It takes far too long for these plotlines to collide, particularly when the demon wrestling feels so silly. DeadEndia began as a series of web comics posted online by Steele. Later, these were reworked and published as books by Nobrow Press along with Steele's Pantheon, another comic series. [1] Norma and Badyah investigate the case surrounding Jennifer Swan's disappearance. Norma believes Barborah Winslow ( Karen Maruyama), a stunt double who had a grudge with Pauline, is responsible. They are surprised to learn that a string of Pauline impersonators have all disappeared at one point but still work for the park. Meanwhile, Barney has a tense conversation with his family. They ask him to return home, but he refuses since they didn't defend him against his grandmother's transphobic comments. Barney and Norma head to the museum and finds Barborah disguised there as a custodian. She explains that she is looking for an insurance ad to prove who Pauline truly is. Pugsley uses his powers to show the ad on a TV, but the ghost of Pauline appears and tries to stop them. Barborah holds Pauline off as Barney, Norma, and Pugsley jump into the TV.Thank you so much to Nobrow for the second DeadEndia book! In the second installment of this quirky, heartfelt, LGBTQ adventure comic, war is brewing across the thirteen planes and as always, haunted house attraction and portal to hell Dead End is right at the center of it. It's been weeks since Dead End is opened as a hotel, and resident tour guide turned hotel manager Norma is determined to leave the ghosts of the past where they belong. But with her friendship with Barney up in the air and angels and demons using the hotel as their literal wrestling ring, Norma soon finds that unwanted ghosts can appear at any moment, especially when they're your own.

Barney pursues his dream of becoming a wrestler and joins the Demon Wrestling Federation! Does he stand a chance against a burly demon king? Opie, David (16 June 2022). "Dead End: Paranormal Park's Hamish Steele on queer animation and *that* musical episode". Digital Spy. Archived from the original on 19 June 2022 . Retrieved 3 July 2022. The story in the published graphic novels is largely the same as the one previously published online, but with some variations in details and plot points, as well as artwork improvements. Some of the key modifications include the setting, which changed from Winslow's Wonderland to Pollywood. According to Steele, previous updates to the online versions of the story - referred to as DeadEndia: The Original Run - are considered as non-canon. [3] For as much as I loved Volume 1, I think Volume 2 has taken the top spot in this series so far. The main characters' arcs are self-contained (given where everyone ended up at the end of Volume 1) but they mirror each other nicely and continue the growth of these characters. Seeing Courtney's arc tied so closely to Norma's was great as they've always had an entertaining friendship and this added a whole new layer to it! Badyah's role is expanded into basically main character status and her arc is actually essential to the story (as well as a great arc for her). Logs is a little less of a main character in this version, but his relationship with Barney and the role he plays in Barney's story are sweet and very well portrayed. And the ending! I can't wait for Volume 3 to see how this all plays out!Kody Kavitha as Norma Khan, a 17-year-old bisexual and autistic Pakistani-American girl who works with Barney. [15] [16] Readability: ★★☆☆☆, It is very jumpy because of all of the different POVs, timeskips and sudden big character changes that feel unnatural. It doesn’t feel personal, but rushed and unorganized. I could read it fast but felt like I was missing a lot and not understanding the characters’ choices.
