Opening with two 16yr-olds coming across a luxury car parked in the grounds of Harrison Charter High School - containing two dead bodies. No-one around, they think, and proceed to rob the man and woman of their valuables. Kay Willington, a wealthy socialite and ex-wife of the serving Vice President, lay beside Randall Christopher, a respected educator with political ambitions. Alex is brought onto the case and he knows both the victims, but his past dealings with Kay lead an enthusiastic writer to try to smear Alex's reputation. I can't say too much as, if you are already a fan, you will intend to read it, and if not, I don't want to spoil anything. Be aware, though. You'll be drawn in.

Deadly Cross: (Alex Cross 28) (Alex Cross) by James - WHSmith Deadly Cross: (Alex Cross 28) (Alex Cross) by James - WHSmith

Alex Cross is called in as a consultant to the FBI when DC socialite Kay Willingham, former wife of the vice president and educator with political ambitions Randolph Christopher are found shot dead in her car. He is already consulting with Metro PD on the unsolved murders of a string of teenage girls and is feeling the stress of too much work, especially when he has to go to Alabama to further investigate Kay Willingham’s murder.I wait for new Alex Cross books with a degree of impatience. This one didn't disappoint. There is less of the psychological insight in this one, and more of the dogged police work, but still a great read. This is the 28th book in the Alex Cross series.... 28th! Only a really good series can last this long. The Alex Cross series of books, has lasted so long and stood the test of time due to its originality and excellent writing. You might imagine a police procedural/thriller would be feeling a little stale to read nowadays but this trope is 100% fresh anytime a new AC novel comes out. James Patterson writes with the confidence of longevity and masterful storytelling. The multi-state Willingham investigation takes Alex and FBI’s Ned Mahoney to Alabama, where Kay is from. Just as Alex and Mahoney get closer to solving the murder of Kay, and Bree and John Sampson are making headway on the rape murder cases, someone starts shooting celebrities, politicians and rich people in the bum in DC. In the midst of it all, tragedy strikes close to Alex and his family. With each step closer to the killer, Cross finds himself confronting influential and dangerous individuals who hold great power and will go to extreme lengths to safeguard their secrets. In the higher echelons of society, where only one certainty remains – they will stop at nothing to protect their hidden truths. A precise killer, he always moves under the cover of darkness, flawlessly triggering no alarms, leaving no physical evidence.

Alex Cross - Book Series In Order Alex Cross - Book Series In Order

Alex Cross, on his first case with the FBI, confronts a perplexing mystery that leaves his new colleagues bewildered. Across the nation, individuals are vanishing in broad daylight without a trace. Alex discerns that these abductions are not driven by ransom demands but rather involve a disturbing underground trade. The enigmatic figure known as the Wolf, a ruthless criminal who has unleashed a reign of terror in the world of organized crime, appears to be the puppeteer behind this operation. The book was adapted into a film starring Morgan Freeman in 2001. The role of main character Alex Cross was also taken up, played by Tyler Perry in the 2012 film titled Alex Cross. The adaptation of the Middle School novel by Patterson for middle grade students came out in theaters in 2016. Kay had many enemies, but all of them seemed to need her alive. The harder the investigators push, the more resistance they find when they leave behind the polite law offices and doctors' quarters of the state capital. Alex Cross will need to use all his skills as a doctor, a detective, and a family man to prevent that resistance from turning lethal . . . again. Juggling family life, his practice and his commitment to law enforcement continues to be a balancing act with different facets of his life taking precedence over others in rotation. However, Alex Cross and his fans wouldn't have it any other way! Meanwhile, Alex, John Sampson and Ned Mahoney are investigating a double homicide. Kay Willingham was a Georgetown socialite, philanthropist, and ex-wife of the sitting vice-president led a public life. Murdered alongside her is Randall Christopher, a respected educator with political ambitions.Detective Alex Cross is faced with a heart-wrenching situation when his niece goes missing. As he investigates, he becomes deeply concerned that her disappearance may be connected to a series of terrifying abductions and murders plaguing the entire country. As the daughter of a librarian Jen's love of books started from a very early age. Her reading obsession continued throughout her teenage years when she studied both English Language and English Literature at college. Deadly Cross opens with a double murder of a respected School Principal and the ex-wife of the Vice President of the US, shot and found in fragrante delicto during a midnight tryst in the VP’s wife’s Bentley. There’s another ongoing Police investigation into a serial rapist and murderer of teenaged girls from a small chunk of the Metro area, who’s escaped capture for over 15 years. Recently two girls were abducted and found violated and murdered about 48 hours after their kidnapping. If you haven’t read the Women’s Murder Club yet that would be a good series to tide you over until the next Cross novel. Also the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly. Reply

Cross Books in Order (James Patterson): Complete List 2023 Alex Cross Books in Order (James Patterson): Complete List 2023

Patterson is famous for his short sharp chapters that turn out to be a real honeytrap for me. When taking a book to bed, it’s far too tempting to read just that one extra chapter and before long it’s hours later. So, yes another all-nighter here. For long-term readers, it should carry a warning that we have to say goodbye to a beloved character in the series. It’s a very clever story that combines 3 different cases, emotional heartache and a satisfying solution. Meanwhile, Jezzie Flanagan has risen through the ranks to become the Secret Service’s first-ever female supervisor. The chemistry between Alex and Jezzie is palpable, and the two may not be able to stop themselves from giving in to an affair of passion despite the risks. I don’t want to give much away as you just need to delve in and read it!! But I will say, have the tissues at the ready for there is one heartbreaking part to this story. Just as Alex Cross starts to regain his sense of happiness and emerge from the depression caused by his wife’s death, he receives an urgent call. Psychopathic killer Gary Soneji is wreaking havoc at Union Station train terminal, shooting indiscriminately into the crowded masses of travellers. Soneji appears hell-bent on going out in a blaze of glory, and he specifically wants Alex Cross to be present for the final showdown. That’s a lot of things to investigate. I’ve got to say that in this story there’s more slowly evolving, hard grafting policework than elaborate psychological theories.I loved the tightly knitted plot, the well thought characters and loved the mystery part that kept me guessing. I liked the Alex Cross books and some others. Now we have books By John Doe with James Patterson or the other way around. I recently read an article that said that anymore Patterson writes an outline and someone else writes the book. Other than Alex cross I never have cared much for his books anyway. Reply Sampson and Cross are in a race to find the killer in two mysteries. An "important" couple murdered in their car, and girls going missing and then found dead. It takes them a lot of investigating to get to the bottom of each of the murders, and the twists in the storyline really were some of Patterson's best.
