Life may smooth away all of your rough edges, with its twists and turns and lessons to be learned.Life may force you to fashion a tough outer shell.Life may break you and reform you many many times until you don’t even recognise the shapes you see in the mirror anymore. And that’s okay, it really is.

WORDS TO LIVE BY – Donna Ashworth WORDS TO LIVE BY – Donna Ashworth

It feels like she truly understands me; I particularly connected with the poem ‘The Interrupt’ as this describes me perfectly, and now I know why I do it! The poems contain such insight and clarity; they are so deep yet so readable. ‘There is no waiting room’ is so full of truth. For those looking for inspiration, peace and acceptance on the bumpy road that is life, Donna Ashworth's poems give insight into the enigmas of ageing, body image, family and the rapidly changing world around us. Whether you have a mother or not, the need will always be there. Even if you never had one, even if you don’t have any experience of that maternal love, there is a hole inside of you that perhaps, you didn’t even know you had. A woman needs her mum, this much is true. So waste time wisely, my friend. Time spent in rest, joy, company and kindness is never wasted. As for everything else, just do it. You won’t regret the things you tried and failed at. But you will regret a life spent waiting. Those who wait, wait. You have a life to live.”

Recommend you distribute copies to your best girlfriends. Donna ashworth’s words speak so clearly to my soul. Happy and relieved tears every 5th poem or so. I’m an ebook supporter, but this one I had the feeling needed to be hard copy, and I’m glad I did. TO THE WOMAN WHO WILL LOVE MY SONONE DAY… It is hard, so hard, to imagine a day where I will not be the moon, the sun and the sky to my little man. When he is sad, he calls for me. When he is scared, it’s me he wants. When he feels excited, I All-encompassing, honest and relatable, Life, Love and Loss will resonate with anyone who has experienced the joy and heartbreak that travel alongside being a parent, child, partner or friend. These poems give us the insight to grow, turning the compassion we have for others towards ourselves and teaching us to create memories full of peace, laughter and fearlessness in this magnificent and challenging journey we call life. NOW THAT I AM OLDER… The list of the ‘things I want’, has gotten smaller with every passing year. These days, I can pretty much narrow it down to – good health for us all, enough money, enough time, enough fun, enough work – really, just enough. Enough. That’s really all that I want. The You cannot be everyone's cup of tea, but you can be someone's first sip of a cold drink on a sunny day.

Loss: Poems to better weather the many waves of grief

I don't read a lot of poetry but when I saw the title of this book it called to me as I am currently in a season of anticipatory grief. When I read the poems in this book I felt both seen and heard, and I was able to really dig into my emotions. Reading the poems because a way to release energy that just wouldn't come out otherwise. There are several poems that I flagged as instant favorites, finding comfort in the words. TO OUR DAUGHTERS 🌟 You were born made of softness, sweetness and love, but with a will so strong it could bend iron – despite what society may tell you, you don’t have to lose one or the other. Keep them all, they are yours. Aren’t you blessed? 🌟 Your super-power in this life, is I have read this book, along with 2 others Life and Love as a poetry collection and have reviewed them together so this review will appear duplicated for the other 2 books Whatever gives your soul that lift and elevates you to a level of harmony, peace and contentment, chase it and grab it tight. THE LOSS OF A MOTHER is a really good one and I took a deep breath expecting to really tear up as my own mum died quite recently but it was THE LOSS OF A FATHER that made me the most emotional, the one that had me nodding in agreement with its words and sentiment, especially with the part where your father has already planted the answers you seek etcThink about it, you have EARNED this face. Every line, a laugh shared. Every wrinkle, a year survived. Every age spot, a day that the sun shone on you. Some women believe that as they age, they LOSE their looks. Oh my friends how wrong this is. A beautiful young women is a happy accident Love - This poignant collection of beautiful words is about all kinds of love, parental, sibling, as a child, as a partner, as a friend. Its about boundaries, its about acceptance, its about absence of love. It touched me in the way only poetry can. To the woman who has lost her spark. To the woman whose get up and go, has well and truly gone. This is for you. This is to remind you whose daughter you are. This is to remind you, that you don’t have to be everything to everyone, every day. A collection of insightful and uplifting verse to inspire women to be who they are capable of being. Don’t prioritise your looks, my friend, they won’t last the journey.Your sense of humour though, will only get better.Your intuition will grow and expand like a majestic cloak of wisdom.Your ability to choose your battles, will be fine-tuned to perfection.Your capacity for stillness, for living in the moment, will blossom. And your desire to live each andWhen you have lost someone you love Do not make the mistake of living in sadness, or living small to honour their absence. Loss - This book is for everyone, because no matter how much we are prepared for loss, we are not. Loss is always sudden, even when expected. It seeps in with time, showing up unannounced at sight or feeling of something we relate to the lost ones. This collection is about dealing with those feelings, dealing with the trauma of loss, accepting the status of loss, healing the wounds, the scars and scabs left by loss. I follow Donna on social media, her way with words is amazing and I sometimes feel she’s talking just to me. Share the love you felt for that person with all the other special people in your life, for it is limitless. There is no end to it and there never, ever should be.
