About this deal

The product is pure hype. I can't hear any voice through this. It is only bass. Also, some screws were loose and because of that, the sound was heavily rattling near 230hz. The colormap provides you the locations with the best (green) and worst (red) listening experience. Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” sounds richer and fuller while The Beach Boys’“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” sounds clearer and more detailed. Taylor Swift’s “The Lakes” gets more richness in her voice and better representation of the string instruments. Twin Shadow’s “To the Top,” on the other hand, has a bit more punch to it with a little more bass and better defined low-end while also keeping things on the high-end present. The design and build quality of the speakers are similar, and if we compare the dimensions of the two, there is no difference in the length, depth, and height as well. Each Edifier R1280T speaker is about 9.2 inches in height, 5.7 inches in width, and 7 inches deep. The two speakers attach via a detachable stereo cable, with the right one feeding power to the left one.

Overall, the Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts are excellent in the high-frequency ranges. The Edifier R1280T and Ts feature a 21W RMS. Meanwhile, the Edifier R1280DB and DBs are slightly advantageous with a 42W RMS. Connecting a mobile device via Bluetooth is also incredibly easy if you want to go wireless, too. Just set the speakers’ input to Bluetooth using the remote, and go through the usual steps connecting via Bluetooth on your device. To deliver the sound, each speaker cabinet comes with a 4-inch bass driver, a flared bass reflex port (basically a specially-constructed hole that increases the bass response), and a silk dome tweeter. Bass is the strongest point of these speakers, it fills the room. The speaker doesn't distort even when the bass is set to max.

MORE BASS: The R1280Ts features a subwoofer output port for connecting to an external subwoofer (sold separately) Meanwhile, the MDF wood enclosure is made so that it helps curb distortions of any sort. The volume knob also has an LED indicator at its bottom, so it's easier to spot. R1280db has a frequency response of 55Hz-20KHz, and R1280t has a frequency response of 75Hz-18KHz. They both produce reasonably clear and decent sound. Conclusion This product can be seen as very reliable when it comes to its performance. The product provides you with a very high-quality sound that can be easy compared to a home theatre. Despite its retro look, the audio speakers in this device are quite modern with advanced technology used. They will be repaired using new or refurbished parts after being thoroughly inspected for flaws. Repairs will be exchanged for refurbished speakers if they cannot be repaired, as assessed by Edifier North America or its approved service partner.

These are terrible. They just threw speakers in a box, attached a crappy amp, and crossed their fingers. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. There are three notch controls on the panel: volume, bass, and treble. There are also two LED lights on the panel: red and blue. Red for the optical and coaxial, blue for Bluetooth, and green for lines 1 and line 2.

The Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts sound great wherever you place them, but they sound best when they're at least six feet away from walls. The bass is not as strong at this distance, and the sound isn't as full. However, it's still a good sound. There isn’t much information in Edifier’s product descriptions on just what these speakers are made from, but our best guess is that most of the construction is comprised of a molded plastic or polycarbonate enclosure, with two wood slats acting as paneling on the sides of each speaker. Each main woofer is built of the usual cloth/felt-type material, and the tweeters employ the standard silk. Both of these material choices are in line with our expectations for a speaker of this class. As discussed earlier, there's really not much of a difference between the Edifier R1280T and R1280DB other than the fact that the R1280DB has a lot more going for it in terms of connectivity and electronics. Got even more confused? Allow me to introduce you to Edifier R1280T and Edifier R1280Ts and compare them to find out the difference.

Speakers help you enhance the quality of your PC or laptop’s audio. Most computer systems don’t come equipped with external speakers, keeping you from getting the best experience while watching your favorite movies.

Appreciate me or not, appearance matters to me. Therefore whether it’s speakers or not, I do not compromise on the looks. To be very honest, the first thing that captured my attention and convinced me to try out these two speakers was the ” sleek and stylish design”. However, they appear more or less the same. If both of the speakers are placed together, you have to observe pretty keenly to find out the difference. There are some solid chances that you would not find any noticeable difference. The Edifier R1280Ts and R1280DBs have an external subwoofer. This external subwoofer is detachable, which is both a good and bad thing. The subwoofer can be removed by simply unplugging it from the active speaker. This means that you can upgrade to another external subwoofer if you want to. Unlike the Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts, the R1280DB features two auxiliary inputs - one for coaxial and one for optical - rather than just one optical input. This is a great advantage for those who own DVD players or game consoles. It allows you to compare the performances of different speakers before even laying your ears hands on them. The first visible difference between the two options lies in the name. Actually the main difference between Edifier R1280T and R1280TS is of sound quality and connectivity. Let’s find out what else makes the speakers different and which one is the better option; Of course, with an optical audio port and a coaxial input joining the T models’ dual RCA inputs, you can physically connect these bookshelf speakers to four different devices and appliances at the same time. That not only makes it a perfect addition to a modest entertainment center where there might be a PlayStation or Xbox, a vinyl player, and another media player on top of the TV, but it also makes your entertainment experience a lot more seamless. The Edifier R1280T is one of the best bookshelf speakers you will find in the market. This pair of speakers is most suitable for watching movies. So, if you are a cinema lover, you should give the Edifier R1280T a chance. Design

Product Overview

Measurements are compliant with latest speaker research into what can predict the speaker preference and is standardized in CEA/CTA-2034 ANSI specifications. Likewise listening tests are performed per research that shows mono listening is much more revealing of differences between speakers than stereo or multichannel. Edifier is a well-respected speaker manufacturer recognized for its reasonably priced, high-quality speakers. There is a major difference between the R1280T and R1280DB speakers when it comes to connectivity options. The s-series speakers - R1280Ts and R1280DBs, on the other hand, feature an external subwoofer. The R1280T comes with remote control with three buttons that control its volume. You can also control the volume using the lower knob on the side of the right speaker. The bass and treble knobs are better than the equalizer controls on other speakers. Whether it’s Edifier R1280T or Edifier R1280Ts, both are designed and manufactured to fulfil the same needs. Frankly, that’s what makes the two options highly comparative. The pair of speakers consists of one powered speaker, with an internal amp to power both speakers, and one passive speaker. You connect them together via standard stereo speaker wires, so the setup is simple.
