Diane Lane, who was added to the cast by producer McDormand, [3] was signed to the role of Helen Manning, the mother of Alice Manning, an 18-year-old girl who becomes a suspect in the disappearance of a missing child. (I wanted to puke on their heads at several times and sing at them till they die from ear bleeding. -That’s why I am banned from entire karaoke bars in the US!-) But this book was extremely funny, entertaining and it was like watching a box match between Cruella de Vil and Nurse Ratched. The writing is fascinatingly riveting and I couldn’t put it down! So I’m giving extra half stars for the brilliant writing and smart mind of the author that I always admire and I’m rounding up 3.5 stars to 4! When did you realize that the antagonist, Neena, switched to Cat?Did it surprise you? Did you know all along?Did you figure it out when the railing broke? Neena, who works for William, beings to become a fixture in their lives. She is constantly around, having get togethers, jogging with William, and making underhanded comments about Cat's cooking and fertility issues. Discuss Cat and William’s relationship. Was it strong or weak? Did they have true love? Did they deserve each other?

I devoured Alessandra Torre’s book, “The Ghostwriter” so, I jumped at the chance to read an ARC of her latest and I was not disappointed! The two women have to sorta be friends since Neena and her husband moved next door. But that works out real well and then the cat claws come out. Two weeks after Ronnie and Alice return home a couple are shopping in a furniture store with their young bi-racial daughter, Brittany Lyttle. While the couple are arguing about couches their daughter goes missing, prompting panic. The two detectives assigned to the case that come to visit the parents include detective Nancy Porter, who worked on the Fuller/Manning case, which still haunts and traumatizes her. Soon the connection between the current case and the previous kidnapping becomes apparent, including the resemblance between Brittany and the previous kidnap victim. Porter and her partner question both Alice and Ronnie. Ronnie is evasive and withdrawn, while Alice tries to subtly suggest Ronnie is responsible.

Cat Winthorpe is an influential figure in the monied community of Atherton. A serial committee member, fund raiser, party giver and wife of William (her prized asset). William is handsome and charming, the owner of a large, successful medical company and is of course wildly rich. This charmed couple are the envy of everyone they meet. The two women were annoying at times with all the drama and cat-fighting, the mystery was a bit of a stretch and slightly disappointed in the end.
