As we have grown to expect, GWH’s kit is excellent. However, just like their other kits also quite expensive and might not be the best choice for someone who’s just starting out with jet modeling. There has been so much hype about the AMK’s F-14D that it was pretty much destined to fail at becoming the king of F-14 kits. It was announced even before anyone even knew that Tamiya’s engineers were working on their F-14A. For some time it even looked like it was never going to see daylight. After all the delays it was finally released in 2019, beaten to the market by both F-14A and F-14D by Tamiya released in 2016 and 2018 respectively. The kit is well-made with fine details but it does suffer from some inaccuracies. Although I am not one to complain much about inaccuracies, HobbyBoss or Trumpeter did a pretty bad job with the intakes angle. Does the model look like an F-14? It sure does, and if you don’t know the F-14 that much, you may never notice this blunder.

Scale fidelity, surface details, and builder-friendliness were also specific areas of focus. The PNP model arrives with the main fuselage completely assembled. All the electronics-servos, EDFs, ESCs,UBEC,retracts, and lights-are completely installed at the factory for the PNP variant. The builder simply needs to screw on the wings and tail surfaces, affix the upper wing box plates with the provided Allen bolts, epoxy on the forward nose section, pop on the magnetic nose cone, and then glue the assorted surface details like the ventral fins, wing fences, antennas, pitot tube, etc. Bind your receiver (not included) to the pre-labeled connections, match the recommended settings, and you're ready to fly! The decision to add this F-14D to your fleet will be an easy and resounding 'Yes!'. AIM-7 Sparrow". Air Force. Archived from the original on 24 January 2022 . With the TF30, the F-14's overall thrust-to-weight ratio at maximum takeoff weight is around 0.56, considerably less than the F-15A's ratio of 0.85; when fitted with the F110 engine, an improved thrust-to-weight ratio of 0.73 at maximum weight and 0.88 at normal takeoff weight was achieved. [47] Despite having large differences in static thrust, the TF30-equipped F-14A and the F110-equipped F-14B and F-14D were rated at the same top speed.
