This book is your one-stop solution to solving that problem. Knowing the names of fabrics is a good thing, but what use is it, if you don’t know how each of them feel? This book is intended as an easily navigable fabric lexicon Our relationship with fibers and fabrics is intimate and all- This easily navigable resource provides 100 swatches of most recognized and widely used varieties of fabric, including cottons, silks, wools and linens, to encourage consideration of not just the aesthetic appeal of various fabrics but also their structure, feel and weight. The only time that I became really disappointed was when I realized that there was no index. With non-fiction books, I cannot overemphasize the usefulness (and the need) for indexes. I would strongly recommend that an index be included in the 3rd edition. This fabric swatch book by Deborah E. Young is the current and high-quality fashion fabric and is on every fashion professional’s list. This book is centered on the needs of fashion students. This fashion book kit has 208 unique fabric samples. that explores the relationship between fashion and textiles encompassing; we are surrounded by, sleep in, and are clothed The perfect handbook for fashion students everywhere, Fabric for Fashion: The Swatch Book 2e, presents over 120 swatches of fabrics so that one can not only appreciate their aesthetic appeal, but also familiarise themselves with each one's structure, feel and weight. Given that a lot of the work was done for me already, I really like how this book took a large chunk of work away from me. Of course, I also have my own swatch book. But this book really educates people. In fact, after reading this book from cover to cover, I really feel like I understand fabric so much better. The book includes an Introduction and 3 sections: Animal Fibers, Plant Fibers ,and Man-Made Fibers. At the very end, a ‘Useful Information’ section is also included. The introduction includes 17 different yarn samples which includes wools, silks, rayon, jute, hemp, bamboo, linen, cotton and cotton blends, alpaca, mohair, and cashmere. fashion context. It is designed to inform the reader of the practical and aesthetic properties, but also as incredibly powerful The part that I also enjoyed was the fact that the authors included a few samples of different cotton blends. However, I wish that the authors would have included a special section on the cotton/poly blends (e.g., 60/40 cotton; 60/40 polyester; 80/20 cotton, and etc.). These blends are used so much that seeing and feeling the differences in them would have been really useful.
