In het eerste deel miste ik wat spanning en actie, dus ik hoopte dat dit boek het wel had. Maar helaas, er zat 0,0 actie in. Het grootste deel van het boek was ik verveeld. Er gebeurde amper wat. I have to admit that I'm not entirely sure if this prequel really added much, apart from getting to know the characters a little better. This is a prequel, but it's not set that long before the first season. We basically see how the characters are moving towards the starting point of the first season and since we already know how things are gonna end and already know what's waiting for our characters, there aren't many surprises there.La historia de este libro está específicamente centrada en los preparativos del “Día de Orientación”, un evento que está siendo organizado por un comité de bienvenida encabezado por Stella, quien podría decirse que es la protagonista principal del libro debido a la gran cantidad de capítulos narrados desde su perspectiva, y que su personaje prácticamente aparece en varios momentos esenciales de la historia. Y a nivel de historia, todo lo que se cuenta se ve en la serie misma. Entonces, en resumen, este libro no brinda nada nuevo, ni a nivel de personaje ni a nivel de lore. Se puede vivir en paz sin leerlo nunca.

While the prequel novel does feature characters including Stella, Sky, Riven and Terra, it is set before the events of the series so could feature a younger, new cast if it was ever filmed. Eerder las ik al “Een magische ontmoeting” geschreven door Ava Corrigan. Ik gaf het boek 3 sterren. Toen ik hoorde dat er een prequel van kwam, hoopte ik maar één ding: laat dit deel beter zijn. Naast dat het geen toevoeging geeft, is het verhaal ook niet bijster interessant. Meerdere perspectieven komen aan het woord, maar niemand vertelt iets nuttigs en er lijkt vrijwel niks te gebeuren. Het verhaal wist mij niet te boeien, waardoor het zelfs een worsteling was om het boek uit te lezen. Doordat er zo weinig gebeurt in het verhaal, valt er ook weinig over te vertellen. Er valt simpelweg weinig kritiek op te geven, maar ook weinig positiefs. En cuanto a los personajes de Musa y Aisha tengo poco en que explayarme, esperaba que la autora nos diera más información al respecto de dichos personajes; del hada del agua solamente se nos recalca que es una reconocida y triunfadora nadadora, y que tiene cierta presión a fallar, como también siente algo de temor al demostrar sus poderes.Musa is an introvert who keeps to herself so her mind isn't overwhelmed by the emotions of those around her.
