About this deal

It gives you all of that data, and displays it in a 3d style chart more akin to what you’d see in a professional fitting studio. I was hoping to get more thoughts on why the MEVO plus did worse in most categories than the smaller MEVO. If you’re considering purchasing a personal launch monitor or want to see how these devices measure up, read on. Over the years I’ve reviewed a lot of different golf tech products, but there’s one that I’ve been wanting to try that up until recently had eluded me: the FlightScope Mevo. Ideally, a mid-range simulator comes with an average height of 8.5 feet. This figure makes it perfect for a golfer to swing clubs freely. To prevent any mishaps, make sure you are placing the simulator in a 10 feet tall room.

With both Mevo devices, you get the launch monitor, a charging cable, and some instructional material. One substantial difference is that the Mevo comes with a red carrying pouch, the Mevo Plus comes with a sturdy case. The Mevo feels pretty tough, but a proper case would be nice. While measuring the flight of the golf ball is the primary purpose for all of the units we tested, most offer some additional features. Some allow for simulator play while others include features to record your swing or leverage GPS functionality on the golf course. Others add elements of gamification like long-drive contests and closest-to-the-pin challenges. The essential peices of equipment you’ll need for the best budget home golf simulator are as follows: All of the devices we tested provide ball speed, club head speed and carry distance. Other metrics produced by each unit are detailed in the chart below. BEST PERSONAL LAUNCH MONITORS 2021 - METRICS OFFERED Even the best golf launch monitors must be easy to use. For most of us, practice time is limited and it shouldn’t be wasted trying to configure, connect and use a device meant to help us improve faster. Some units require more precise placement at setup. And unfortunately, since there isn’t any lateral data, it’s tough to truly get a sense of how your accuracy is improving – especially if the thing you’re working on is fixing a swing flaw like a slice.

The key thing when placing a golf simulator is the amount of space. Consider these measurement tips when putting a simulator into a room.If your plan is to use a personal launch monitor to gain performance insights while banging limited flight, beat to hell, or generally inconsistent range balls, you're wasting both your time and money. Practice with the ball you play (or at least one that's similar) so the data you collect is consistent and meaningful. As mentioned you can easily flip the switch for “data only” or “video” in the settings section, and then choose which camera you want to use for your video. Personal launch monitors have improved dramatically but still have some room to grow. Models tested do a reasonably good job of measuring ball speed and launch angle for the most part. However, real spin measurements come at a cost. I placed the Mevo 6 feet behind my spot on the range, hit a shot, and almost instantly had numbers for carry, spin, ball speed, clubhead speed, and launch angle. One thing I’d add if you’re serious about using the FlightScope on a regular basis – get a cheap tripod to use.

It feels like a small thing to be able to do this, but I found being able to use my watch to be an incredibly convenient and useful tool while I was on the range using the FlightScope. Essentially considering these devices were being compared to each other while using the gc quad for the baseline. Virtual Golf 2 comprises of features that are designed to make the game more fun and informative. Pebble Beach Golf Course has recently been added to their simulator.Let’s start with some of the basics. Both Mevo and Mevo+ can run on iOS and Android (I tested on iOS). Mevo uses the dedicated Mevo app. Mevo+ uses the FlightScope Golf app and the FlightScope Skills app.

The first thing I realized when I got my FlightScope Mevo out of the box was just how small it really is. What ever your skill level, or budget, let us help guide you to the best clubs, tuition and articles to improve your game. Most monitors guess at carry distance based on the measured items above. Other do try and factor in other items that impact carry distance like humidity, air pressure, temperature. I don’t know if any take into account wind or ball type. Mevo+ is the ultimate indoor and outdoor launch monitor and simulator giving golfers, coaches, instructors, and fitters golf performance data that provides the ultimate practice and play experience.

PERSONAL LAUNCH MONITOR BUYER’S GUIDE

Perhaps a better thing to list is….not among the most accurate in out test group if that’s the case One feature that stands out in both apps is the ability to set data parameters. If you’re working on wedge distance control, you might set your range from 50-60 yards. Shots inside this range will appear green; shots outside will appear red. This is a nice way to maintain focus on one thing and immediately see your success. A ceiling of 10 feet is considered safe for playing golf on the simulator. The factor entirely depends on your height and how vertical your swing is. A ceiling with 8 feet also works, but for the safe side, go for a 10 feet room. FlightScope was the first of the “Big Three” launch monitor companies to come down to the consumer level with their Mevo launch monitor. After the success of Mevo, they released Mevo Plus as a bridge from the stripped-down Mevo to their pro-level X3. In this review, I’ll pit the Mevo vs. Mevo+ to let you know which one you should invest in.
