About this deal

All film was graciously developed by Lomography Gallery Store in NYC. I highly encourage you to give it a visit. Tech Specs Ease of Use It might be hard to see, but with Portra 400 on the left, the overexposed areas aren’t as ‘blown out’ as they are with the Fuji on the right. Also, the Portra retains a bit more of the shadows than the Fuji does.

Fujifilm X-Trans IV (X-Pro3, X100V, X-T4, X-S10 & X-E4) Film Simulation Recipe: Fujicolor NPS 160 Pulled I think many of you will really appreciate this film simulation recipe. It has fairly low contrast, but not too low, and produces very nice colors. It has a nostalgic quality to it, since the film that it’s based on was widely used for family snapshots in the 1990’s and 2000’s. You can use it for portraits or street photography or landscapes—really, it’s good for most situations. Unfortunately, as of this writing, this Fujicolor Superia 100 film simulation recipe is only compatible with the Fujifilm X-Pro3, X100V and X-T4 cameras. This recipe does use the new Clarity feature, and you should be aware that it slows down the camera considerably. Konica Big Mini BM-302 and Fujifilm Superia 400. Inverted by hand with no adjustments. A brief history of the Fujifilm Superia film line and the technology behind it.Given the impressive dynamic range of this film, over-exposing it by one stop may work to fix some colour casts. I’ve seen good results on others’ blogs, although without a good scanner, you may risk losing some detail in the highlights. For the trip, I brought my Leicaflex SL2 in combination with not one but two 35mm lenses (the f/2 Summicron as well as the PC Curtagon shift lens). As I had wisely loaded the film in complete darkness , I was able to obtain 40 frames from the single roll. An impressive number to be reduced to a not-so-much impressive count of 37 useful frames by camera operator error. By the way, my point-and-shoot cameras often get one more frame out of a Fuji than of a Kodak film. To have a little more room for exposure errors, I rated the Fuji Superia at EI 200. Fujifilm Natura (Superia) 1600 - Need for Colour Speed Fujifilm Natura (Superia) 1600 - Need for Colour Speed

In 2017 came the final nail in the coffin, Fujifilm discontinued Natura 1600. To show its popularity, there was even a change.org petition to try and save the film. Film Specifics We found this garden shed at nearby residential house. It easily dominates the image, although the shed sits there rather distant. When we stepped onto the bridge, this ship was still a kilometer away. So I invested precious pre-sunset minutes waiting for my picture. General purpose ISO 100 daylight colour negative film designed for flexibility and ease of use. Sharp, accurate vibrant colours (Code CN). Formats 135, 120. Discontinued 2009. [14] Superia 200 [ edit ] In more recent times, for photography, they embraced digital and almost created their own niche of small compact cameras. They even leveraged their history in film and created some very respected film simulations from these cameras. In terms of the film manufacturing, they also adapted this to making products like cosmetics.

As per usual, Portra 400 is probably better in this department because of its dynamic range and finer grain, it’s tones are probably a bit better. Dynamic Range Kodak Portra 400 is pretty notorious for having fairly muted tones so that it can be edited to your heart’s content, so it’s generally pretty pastel which is what I expected. What wasn’t prepared for was for the Superia to be almost identical.

I haven’t tried Portra in either 160 or 400 versions. I’m sort of resisting for two reasons, 1. It’s really expensive compared the film I usually buy and 2. If I do like it, it will mean to maintain my current shooting rate, I’ll have to either earn a lot more money or shoot a lot less film! Kodak Superia X-TRA 400 has proved to be very versatile, giving Kodak Porta 400 a run for its money. The dynamic range of Superia X-TRA is impressive, offering a large playground to under and overexpose your images while still managing to maintain details in the shadows and highlights when scanning. Fujifilm’s processless plate technology features a number of high performance multi-layer coatings. In previous generations of processless, handling without care could sometimes damage the coatings, but Superia ZD is less sensitive to scratching. it is now illegal to have an airgun – loaded or not – in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse. This restriction applies to all airguns, even those that are being carried in securely-fastened gun cases. https://www.airgunshooting.co.uk/expert-advice/airgun-law-in-the-uk-1-1111764In this article, I’m going to talk about my first candidate: Fuji Superia 400. You will read rather subjective impressions based on a single roll, not an in-depth review. Testing Fuji Superia in the Field Superia is more worth it because at the time of writing it is a good bit cheaper. Is it worth using it on holiday? Probably. Is it worth using it for some semi-important portraits? Probably also. Both Portra 400 and Fuji Superia are known for having fine grain, however, Portra 400 should have the finer grain of the two. Superia ZD is a new addition to the Fujifilm processless plate portfolio for the commercial market, produced in Greenwood, SC. Fujifilm’s key performance feature improvement for Superia ZD is the ability to print UV ink conditions and also provide improved run length in non-UV ink environments. Both products are proven winners and provide solid, viable portfolio options. When I bought a couple of rolls of Natura 1600 it was still available in Japan. It was discontinued soon after, but I did not shoot it for quite a while.Mainly because it I just didn’t have the right opportunity.
